how old do you have to be to get a shelf-stacking job in a supermarket?

is it 16 or 18? people i used to know did it when they were 16 but i phoned a shop and they said you have to be 18. does anybody know supermarkets that employ 16 year olds?

it's for my little sister that i'm asking. she's 15 and wanting to get a part time job in the summer. any ideas?

sainsburys take on 16year olds as my son worked there and they train you for the tills as well as for health and safety they go through all the training with you so if you live near sainsburys give it a go or even put your name down for when they have vacancies good luck

Don't stop at calling one supermarket. Call a couple of them. Also if you are under 18 you'll need a workers permit. I'm sure the good people there could better answer your question. I'm pretty sure you don't need to be 18 to work at a supermarket. Although stocking shelves specifically may not be an option. Good luck girl ! Make yourself some money and go buy yourself somthin nice.

Under 16s can get jobs if its part time! certainly they should employ you at 16 as you get a national insurance card. I think the supermarket you asked are discriminating against young people. (This is for UK) I would complain.

My first summer job was fruit picking, at local farms.

About 20- 25 go for a better job!

you have to be 16 or older however some places can request for employees to be 18 or over because then they can deal with such things like alcohol etc... hopes that some help

usually 16, i had my first job when i turned 16
