It totally depends on the industry and the company - there is no set standard across the board that you can refer to. I work in healthcare and they pay an annual retention bonus to workers in demand, especially nurses. Usually it is determined once a year during performance reviews, paid out in quarterly installments. Other industries might offer a bonus for workers remaining with the company after six months or five years.

Some companies do not offer this at all. It would depend on the company, though some offer it for employees at multiple levels 1yr, 3yr, 5yr, 10 yr 15 yr, and 20 yr.
