I am a stay at home mom and have been for 6 years. I do not have work history and am not really interested in a career, just something to do until the new year so I can make extra money for the holidays. I want something I can do with my daughter since I wont make enough to put her in daycare. Anyone have some interesting ideas of some sort of service or job that I could do? I will be sure to chose a best answer!

I am currently a coordinator at a major company where my manager has a an hourly employee making decisions in my area of supervision. The hourly employee is in that area too. He has had relief coordinator duties in the past but not statused like me. I talked to my manager and he said the employee needs to feel wanted and since the employee was a colonel in the army he can not change his mode of being in charge of a group. My manager told me to let the employee do his thing and stay back and watch, since he has two workers who follow him like a cult. I have employees who back me too, but I feel its showing that the hourly employee is getting the credit while i sit back and watch when I'm suppose to be running it. Its a break in the chain of command since the employee skips me and he is reporting directly to the manager, I feel left out and told my manager I don't need the hourly employee to make decisions for me. I respect the employee if he gives me advice, but not my decisions.

I went on a job interview last week and was told I would know today if I got it.
As of now- 4 pm I have not heard if I got the job, however I have been told that they are waiting on my background check (I am clean)
Do you think thats a good sign I got the job?
(Only 3 people interviewed for the job)

I see that there have questions in the past about this and all I'm getting is mixed reviews.
For NON ASSOCIATES : Do you have a prepaid legal plan? What has been your experience with your membership?
FOR SELLING ASSOCIATES: What happens to you if someone cancels an account? Are you charged back for that?
My friend keeps trying to get me to sign up to sell this to people and I want to just make sure that I'm not hurting anyone's finances with something bogus.

I have this old lady at my work that keeps ratting me out to the boss about stupid things. I currently got into a car accident and i work 6 days a week and i go to school. I only have time to take my car and go to the hospital in the morning for like 2 hours. She tells the boss I always leave work early to do "personal" things and she would tell the boss I'm not doing work blah blah when everyone else is slacking off as well. This has been going on for like 5 months. I tried to ignore her, I tried to be her friend again but I just couldn't take it anymore. So I wrote her an email telling her I would appreciated if she just leaves me alone. And she shows the email to the boss and tells him she wants to quit because she's hurt. Now..my boss wants to fire me because of her. What should I do? I hate her so much..what is there to do

People always say, "make your hobby your job" -or- another version, "do what you like and make it your job". How practical is that? Can I have some examples of PRACTICAL jobs that people also consider hobbies or likable work. Thanks! Time for a career change!!

do u think this is annoying? i have to walk pretty far in the office to get stacks of blank 8 1/2 by 11, and 8 1/2 by 14 paper (they are heavy too!), so i usualy get two of each and lug them to my printer. and when the lady in the cube next to me runs out of paper, she just goes to my printer and grabs it, or even opens a new pack from MY printer! isn't that kinda annoying???

I applied and interviewed successfully to a job that required alot of documentation as proof of I.D. My H.S. diploma which has a last name discrepancy was OK-ed.

Here's where it all goes to hell. The second interview goes fine, the guy liked me, and tells me to go back to the orginal office to get proccessed so I can start the next day. I took a drug test, fingerprints, and 50+ pages of personal information. Furthermore they bring in Chase Bank to get our info to open new accounts for direct deposit, the only other choice was to get a check by mail.

As I was leaving the Personnel Manager now has a problem with the name discrepency on my diploma?? She cancels the training I was to recieve the next day because I now had to bring in my college transcripts. Long story short, I've faxed in all the proof I can get my hands on, and the women has cut off ALL correspondance. No info AT ALL. She does'nt answer her phones, and does not return messages.

Can I report them to someone? EEO?

Im a physician making $200,000 a yr. I hate it. I want try to get into advertising. I'll probably have to start at $32,000 and in 10 yrs could be making about $65,000. If Im good at it I could make up to $90,000 and maybe even six-figure. Should I switch. I know advertising is much more volatile and less stable than medicine is, not to mention less pay, but I hate being a doctor. I was never really into science anyway ( My parents pushed me into this career).

Should I go for it or should I just be quiet and be happy where i am?

I'm currently at the tender age where I need to decide what to do with my life and eventually I narrowed it down to three careers I would like to pursue and within those there are even more things to look at. It's either going to be...

1. Video Game Designer
2. Cartoonist
3. Writer

And within each of those is whole set of other questions to consider (if I'm going to be a writer what books would I want to write? If I'm a Game Designer should I be a Programmer or Level Designer?). And now I'm all confused and sick to my stomach...

All of my friends have met with a career adviser from their schools but because I was home schooled I lacked that event in my life. So where would I go to get advice? I'm tired of everyone I know saying, "Oh, why don't you do all three?"

P.S. Please don't mock any spelling or grammar -_-... Whenever someone hears I want to be a writer it's the first thing they do and I already have an editor who does all the mocking I can handle.
