With the amount of accredited institutions in Canada there is nothing preventing you from doing something. Apprenticeship programs especially not only give you the education but get you the job. Also a lot of people dont know that if you have a job that with training evolves into more, you can actually get your company to pay for the education because they get it back through your apprentice training program and then through your employment. Also every major and minor city has access to a Women's Enterprise Centre and they have loads of info on training to education to qualifying for loans for business as well. Almost all of them have web sites. Also pick up a copy of Smart Connections, it has info on everything for the 18-39 year old for education and careers

There are plenty of school grants out there. Just check with a finical aid office at a local college. As for a grant just of woking mom, I don't think there are any. If you need help to make ends met you should check with your local DHR or center for families for programs in your area. Apply for foodstamps, medicaid, child care assistant. Or if you would like to be self reliant go to crown.org and look for a budget coach in your area.

Yes you can go to a local community college. They have free non-credit courses and a counselor will help you since it has been awhile that you been to school. Learn some job skills to find yourself a better job. Good Luck.
