I am currently in my first year of university, and I was wondering, for those of you who are in college or university, how many hours a week did you find was good to work?

I just accepted a job that's 15 hours a week. I work 3-hour shifts, Monday to Friday. I don't know if I'm going to be overwhelmed, or if this will be a good fit. How do you find working while you're in school?

At work when I was hired I was told I either had to buy Dickies Pants or pants that are the exact same color.
Now my general manager is demanding us to wear specifically Dickies, no other pants are allowed. And next week if we come into work without Dickies on we are being sent home, until we can wear Dickies to work.
Is this legal or illegal?

he has not got paid the full amount in his job, he missed the cut off period in august pay and got just £21 for a 3 week of work, and now he has just got paid again and is about £200 out. hourly rate is £5.05 and he has been getting up at 5am to open up a shop all by himself , and working well into the late afternoons and at weekends too. The area manager is very intimidating towards him and demands he works at no notice at all and expects him, to drop everything and go into work. What can he/we do?

I am currently working as a software engineer for a major telecom company in the Midwest and I'm doing great. However, ever since I was a kid, I have wanted to work for the UN or a similar agency. It may not perfect considering the recent reform ideas being floated, but it's the closest thing we have to a worldwide organization that works for progress in all parts of the world.

Does anyone have guidance for how I can get into the UN in the next 3 to 5 years? Eventually I would like to do something with international public policy or international finance for development projects. I am willing to consider all options including public policy graduate school and business graduate school. I have taken a practice GMAT and scored in the 90+ percentile. Paying for the tuition would not be an issue and I don't mind taking a pay cut now, but eventually I would like to make a decent income to support a family in NYC.

Any specific or general advice would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

I'm currently looking for a job. I get far as even a second interview, however, when I sign an Application Notification/Release Of Information form consenting a consumer credit background check, I don't hear back from them again. Or I get a letter in the mail stating that they don't have a position for me. I find it weird because I know I'm well qualified. My credit is not that great due to stupid mistakes I had made in the past but my criminal record is clean, with no arrests/felonies. What gives?

I work @ Best Buy and i jus started ok, well i have a co-worker named Dave ok, well dave has been working retail for years and he jus started working @ best buy the same day i did and all of that, i mean were cool and everything but when ever i am in the middle of a sale, he always trys to come around me and the customer trying to i guess u can call it steal my sale, what can i do to stop that!!
