and now I'm job searching. The problem is, good computer skills and good PR writing skills are vital criteria in PR, but I lack of both knowledge. Do you think I should spend a month or more in training up those skills before applying jobs or get the training and job appyling both doing the same time???? At the momment I'm quite frustrated because I'm pretty bad on those two skills!!!!!

I want to work while studying... I might go for a graduate diploma or an MBA if I could get the financial aid.
But I'm afraid that I'd be discriminated against because of my name... what should I do? Or I'm imagining that I'd be discriminated against?
Actually I still didn't move to USA, but I'll do that soon.
If you will ask me why I want to go to USA while being scared of discrimination, I will tell you it's because I don't always trust the media and I do beleive that USA is the land of opportunities.

Ive been working for this company for more than 4 years now and ive always dreamt of becoming a manager. Now the tables has been turned and i was offered if i wanted to get the position. It will be a higher step from office administrator to assistant manager. I have few concerns the risk i am taking can affect me , my boss and my company if i failed. I have been wanting this job for a long time now its here im getting scared cos it wont be an easy job.the pay is good. but im not sure how will i be dealing with assholes and people who discriminate me .a woman and a filipina.
I dont know my boss is worried and bothered if i take the job. his actually confusing me too.he even mentioned if i wont take the job he will be relieved. so i dont know if his just selfish or actually making an offer. let me know what you tihnk about it.

I was reading a book at my 15 minutes. When I went downstairs for work, I found that I was 5 minutes late. The manager has gone. There was only 1 colleague left. What do you think I should do in order to avoid being scolded or panalised.

Really feel sorry about it...what should I do??
Thanks

I'm considering a career in the arts, and I was hoping for some suggestions of what options are out there.

I'm a painter at heart. I'd kill to be able to sell my art for a living, but I'm aware of how childish the thought is. Still, I'm not yet certain the idea is as absolutely absurd as everyone else seems to think. I'm only 14 right now, but I think I'll be great with time. Maybe I wouldn't end up rich and famous, but at least I wouldn't die a slave in a cubical, right?

But anyway, I was hoping for suggestions of careers that are similar to painter but a little more realistic. Anything in the arts.

Besides the obvious issues like being qualified for the job in terms of education and experience, what are the other qualities you look for in a candidate (such as a positive attitude, motivated, etc).

What qualities matter to you the most?

If you could be anything in the world, what type of career would you choose?

What is stopping you from being in that career?

If you are in that career, how did you achieve this?

2006-10-01 16:58:07 · 6 answers · asked by Searcher 7

I've tried everything my career counselor told me. I have polished my resume, done everything I can to pass the job interview (all the techniques and such), however, I have had NO LUCK for the past two years.

I am a recent college graduate living with my parents. My dad suggested the idea of starting a small internet business but I told him I'd like a job to go alongside it. I feel that I'm a bit of a hopeless case for some reason. It seems as if everyone can get jobs but I can't.

I had a bad experience at my last place of employment, which was a food service job at my college campus which left me laid off (will explain if you message me). Since then, I have had bad luck.

What should I do? This is upsetting and frustrating to me. I don't want to live my life like this. It's also hard for me to find jobs that are 30 min. driving distances from me because I take public transportation.

I guess it might help to add that I do suffer from depression as well.
