Do not feel bad or have any empathy for your boss cause your boss has anger issues and needs to see a counselor of some sort. What she did was very unprofessional and is not at all in any way acceptable. How dare her disrespect you and your body like that. Good thing there wasn't a knife next to her, no telling what she would have done. Thank God that is all she did to you.its so easy for us to tell you what to do cause we are not in the situation however, i would recommend to you if you want to press charges and sue then ( i would sue. 1. you have to file a police report and pictures should be taken of the area. Then, go to the doctor immediately so the doctor can also document what the police report reflects. these 2 little things will help your case a lot. 3. you have to contact a lawyer take your case. Girl you don't have to take that. I'm not trying to be mean but i'm saying that you don't desereve that.
I belive that if she did that to you she can get out of control in the future...she is obviously already out of control I hope she has no kids at home.
Good luck.

Another case of your word against somebody else's...even though it's true you are not going to get very far. The best you could do is file assault charges against this person if you call the cops quickly enough..BUT what is the point? Have you been permanently harmed? If not you are going to spend months going to court and in the end the person will get a verbal reprimand from the court and 6 months probation and be sent on their way...and you will have spent weeks or months dealing with all of this, taking unpaid leave to attend court, etc, etc .. for what? Forget it and move on! If this becomes a regular thing then WARN the person that you will not tolerate this again and that you will file assault charges against them...that should take care of that (but then they will look for a reason to fire you ... You can't really win this one ... Just go find another job if you feel that this is not an isolated event..)
Good Luck!

That is soooo friggin weasly.
What you should have done is just defended yourself in the first place... Not sit there and taken it, then tried to sue her later.
Contrary to what you and many may think, you can't turn this into a civil suit. You could make it a criminal suit, send her to jail or to some probationary workshop, waste everyone's time and look like a little *****.
Civil suits ARN'T what people think. You have to prove you LOST something VALUEABLE in order to get money from it. All you lost was... the color of your arm... for 5 minutes?
You know what I lost... time from reading this.
-_-
One thing I friggin hate about living in America (and for the most part I love it) is this sort of liability bullshit.

Your boss needs to be reported. No one has the right to put their
hands on you. I would notify her Immediate supervisor first.
Is there an ethics line you can call? There must be someway to
communicate with the company as a whole. I believe the
incident should be documented first before you pursue legal action.

I think pressing charges may be too extreme. Did you mention it to her? Tell her that she really hurt you--she may not have even realized that she grabbed you that hard. If she blows you off or it seems to be a pattern with her, then I would go to whoever is above her and report her.

TONX is an asshole.
And Rockerchick82 is stupid.
Ignore their answers.
I understand when you are surprised about a thing you don't respond right away because of the shock of it having happened. It's ok to have not defended your self - it happens.
(I'm sure you won't let that happen next time. ;))
I think you should ask your local police.

I would. You should have filed a police report for assault when it first happened. It might be hard to prove.
