I came in on Monday to request off to attend a football game. My manager said she already turned the schedule in so there was nothing I could do. Typically they would say to find someone to fill in for you. But she was rude about it and told someone else that they couldn't work for me. What should I do ask manager if I've been doing something wrong or just go to work?

I'm moving from the east coast to the west coast. I don't have more than a cargo van full of belongings. If I'm offered $5000 for instance, and only use $2000, what happens to the other $3000? Is it mine? Or is the package expressly for the use of the move?

I have been offered a job, complete with contract, for 50K. I want to start the "salary dance" by going to 60K. It's for a Market Research Data Processing (programming) position, with a brand new company. They have been in business since June, and are now growing enough to hire me. How do I get paid what I'm worth, while negotiating with a sales-based CEO, without blowing myself out of the water?

I have an interview at the Dallas Hilton tomorrow for valet. What should I emphasize about myself? I'm sure I should explain to them how enjoyable it is to work face to face customer service and my work experience,....but what else should I say? I really want to nail this interview...all my other jobs were pretty easy to get, but, I have a feeling this one needs to be perfect. So any suggestions are appreciated.

I've started a job at a place 6 months ago at a place that caters to the mentally retarded. The job is okay, my staff are great, and for the most part the mentally retarded clients(consumers) are great. However I have problems with higher level co workers whose only goal appears to belittle me and disrespect my staff.

One goes around bashing my paperwork even though she isn't familiar with the work. She writes comments that makes her come off like she knows the consumers more than staff, and in some cases, their parents. She has no involvement with my building nor with my consumers.

Another one is a Behavior Specialist. She has these delusional ideas about these people and she won't consider the opinions of the staff who actually see them everyday.

Also lately people have been transferring consumer to and from my building without me having any say. I would probably say yes but they leave me out of the loop.

To top it off, the director my boss sides with them.

One of the questions is: "Well, there're a lot of candidates who're applying for this position. They're more experienced than you. Tell why should I hire you instead of the others?"

I think my answer on this answer is pretty suck. Anyone can tell me a very good-convincing answer?

I have my final interview for a mortgage banking position and need some good advice on interview questions. I have already asked the regular ones regarding advancement, mgmt styles, day-to-day responsibilities, salary, etc. I need advice on good questions to ask that a recruiter wouldn't be able to answer. I am meeting with sales managers and/or area managers.

My boss wants to be copied on all of my emails related to my job! I am a professional with 2 advanced degrees (law and business) and have several years related experience. I started my job two months ago and everything seemed fine, but today, she requested I copy her on all of my work-related emails. I told her it made me feel stiffled, less credible with colleagues, and made me feel that she could not rely on my professional expertise. I offered alternatives such as having periodic updates with her to go over my workload or even forward her emails once I had sent them OR that I would copy her for a short period of time, such as one month, and then we could revisit the issue and she could provide constructive criticism or praise, if necessary ... but she said "no". I want to quit and already have several interviews lined up! I I took this job for more responsibility and independence and now I have less than at my previous job where I worked very independently. What should I do?

...I accidentally clicked the wrong bubble. It said something about "working well under stress." I pressed "Strongly Disagree" when I meant to press "Neutral."

Can I call these people to tell them I screwed up or should I just kiss this job good-bye?

Yes, in reality, I can't stand to work under stress but I need this job.

BTW, this is a repost of an unanswered question.
