As in all sales jobs, appearances count, and here you have to look very credible. With female customers you will see fast purchasing, a spur of the moment buy. Men are the opposite, they will take their time and really think things over. Make a list of all kinds of customers and have 3 items that you are educated about that you can present to these customers. Speak slowly and smile, don't push and be a good listener. Have a polishing cloth and rub items off before you present them to a person. Be willing to work evenings and weekends. Watch the top salesperson. Learn their craft and make it work for you. If you aren't sure about your look, make an appt. with a stylist and invest in your appearance. It will pay off in sales. Pay attention to each customer whether they look wealthy or not. Always thank customers for coming into the store, and give them a bus. card. Practice your presentation with a friend. Get this together because the holidays are coming up and you want to be ready for a great season. Best of luck to you!

Best advice: Always be honest and have impeccable integrity... your reputation will grow. You'll have to educate yourself more on jewelry, but that will come with experience. As for sales tips, do more listening than talking... you'll be surprised to see your sales soar.

you have to be open and friendly. you have to appear trustworthy, particularly when you are selling a high ticket item. Kiss butt and smile. Also shake hands and introduce yourself by your first name only, and if they introduce themselves as well, use their name when you can in the conversation.

oh yeah one more thing... knowledge sells... know all you can about your product, the more knowledgable you sound to them the more likely they are to buy from you.
