You are cutting yourself short with those wages. As a physician you should be able to make some serious money in advertising. How many physician are there that make a move into advertising.
Just make sure you go after advertising jobs in the Pharmaceutical/medical industry. A friend of mine stopped being a physician and is now a speaker/auditor for a Phamaceutical company. He is making some serious dough.
Contact www.businessmentors.com and speak to them. They might be ale to get you onyour way to "happiness".

I think you should do what your heart desires. If you want
to try something else that you're interested in, I say go
for it. You shouldn't do something that you don't want to
do. I know the pressure too. My father was a physician,
and my mother was a homemaker, and both of them hoped
I would become a physician. I opted for a Marketing/General
Business major in Commerce instead. I was a good science
student, but not a great one. The competition for the medical
school seats where I live is great. 75-80% of the applicants
don't get in, so you see what I was up against.
If you're unhappy being a physician, by all means go for something else. If you're happy with what you're doing, then
stay with it. Eventually your unhappiness will be reflected in your work at some point. You don't want to jeopardize the health of
your patients, do you? That could happen because of your
unhappiness. Medicine can be a great career choice, or a
lousy one, depending on the person. There are some very
lousy doctors where I live, who do little for the money they
receive. They should be ashamed to be called doctors. Money
whores is more appropriate for them.

Follow your dreams. Otherwise when you're older you'll turn bitter and angry because you'll always wonder "what if?" If you're willing to take a huge pay cut and realize that you'll have to re-learn stuff for the dream job then go for it! My advise however is, if you're able to do this... save some money aside because as you said, advertising is more volatile (and more so widely competitive as well) and less stable, you'll need the money to fall back on in case things don't work out.
There's a saying you need to tell yourself over and over "if your dreams are big enough, anything is achievable".
Good luck!

searching at your different posts i might want to sparkling up the sexual themes including your father first. You look to have alot of non-public themes so i hit upon it distinctly not likely you're a clinical specialist making 2 hundred,000 a three hundred and sixty 5 days. that's what i might want to tell a authentic man or woman with this example. that's unusual to hit upon a occupation you incredibly love. when you're making a strong residing at what you do and do it properly i might want to assert proceed what your doing and examine out the promotion field on a section time aspect. Who knows possibly that isnt as glamourous as you concept. in case you had to hate what yout doing that's better effective to hate the a million which will pay six figures a three hundred and sixty 5 days. Worse case mission you install 10 years keep a collection of money and then do or bypass anyplace existence takes you. discover economic protection then bypass stay your dream. people substitute always and probably youll discover some thing on your field that stressful circumstances you and promises purpose in the different case i might want to suggestion understanding any personal issues and then take care of the occupation ones.

Go for it...you're obviously not happy being a doctor! Money isn't everything and life is too short to be unhappy. How's that for a couple of cliches! Anyway, if things don't work out in advertising you can always go back to being a doctor. Or, what about research?
Good luck in whatever you decide to do!

I believe you should do what you love. However, you're the first person I've heard of who wants to leave one of the nobler professions to the less-than-idealistic world of advertising. Some of my best friends are in advertising and they tell me it's a brutal, cutthroat world where ethics often take a backseat to getting the account. But do what makes you happy, though it's a shame to give up all that education when you could be using it to make the world a better place. I wouldn't want to be the patient of a doctor who didn't like his job. Disgruntled workers make mistakes!

Many people who hate their jobs can still perform it efficiently. You seem to be in that category as you must be a reasonably successful physician to be making 200K.
There are many jobs in advertising that are free lance and that you could cut back on your day job and try out the ad job by moonlighting (if that is possible). Sometimes, the grass is greener on the other side and when you try the ad gig you may realize that your physician job isn't any worse.

I say go for it! Why be stuck with something you aren't happy with? Money isn't everything and as long as you don't have a sick somebody to take care of or a lot of kids then all that money is just going into savings anyway, right? Do what you want to do! It's your life and you have the right to be happy...so do what you gotta do to be happy and if your family doesn't understand and respect that don't worry about it...they'll get over it eventually. I went through a similar issue with my dad and now that he sees how much happier I am with my life, he's happy for me. Good luck!

This sounds like a load of crap. A person going to medical school for years the big money it costs to get thru it then dump it all for medial job anyone can see thru that find someone else to B.S. Further more taking advice from children here is about a so called occupation change is a total farce.

You shouldn't just spend the rest of your life doing something you absoluteley hate just for some extra money. You should follow your dreams and start advertising. It's like choosing to be miserable with money or being absoluteley happy and just have less money. I tottally recommend for you to go for it ^.^ Good luck!
