I'm looking to work some part time jobs that deal with my major (Computer Engineering). I haven't graduated yet, but I will be graduating in December. Does anyone know of any recruiting companies that deal with contract work for businesses? How do you get started with contract work?

I work for a non-profit company. I am highly skilled with computers and perform most of the tasks related to inventory managment. I am the person they fall back on to take on special projects because I have a reputation for detail and accurately when fixing problems. I am responsible to submit accurate reports to the federal government and am responsibile for uncountable other taskes due to the place being severly under staffed. I am working on my third year with this company and have received 3% raises 2 years in a row. Nepatism is at its finest here. There are family members who have low responsibilities, but are paid 30% more on the hour. I like the work I do and the mission I strive for, but is there something seriously wrong with this situation?

.....or, Which are the questions that a potential future employer should/could/required to ask when calling the employees present job to inquire about the caliber of the employee? I know age, and marital status and children are a few, but I think there are some basics that he should ask, what are they?

I have been working at a company for over a year now, and there is this collegue who seems to have a problem. Her/Him do not bother communicating, and find time to post comments about me on forums. They delete and change things on my computer, dont inform me of when anyone has phoned, spread comments about me, and generally just be a *****. I have however, reacted to this behaviour asked her what is the problem, talked to the management, and have gone on her computer as she does on mine. I realise i should not have done this but i got angry and did something stupid. What do you think i should do?

Why is it that the more money people have the more ignorant they become? I have a sister who thinks she is better than me because she mooches off her b/f, who makes 200k a year, and I am not a good mom because I use daycare and work, and because I have less money than her or her b/f. Also, I have friends who say that they refuse to work for less than 20 or 30$$$ an hour, then complain that they can't afford to pay their bills. Why is it that the poorest people are the ones who know how to enjoy life so much more? It seems the more you have, the more dang miserable and bitter people become.....
The most positive people I know are the poorest, and the best people who know how to really enjoy the simple pleasures of life are the ones who can't afford to do too much. Does money buy happiness, or just misery? If so, I would never want to be rich, or have too much money, it would make me such a biatch, and I wouldnt enjoy myself at all!!

Did you like working in retail the best or did you enjoy working in an office the best? For me I enjoyed working in an office better than working in a retail store cause the people are friendly and also the customers are much nicer on the phone.

One cause for higher prices on everything is that more money is pumped into the market. That is usually the major cause.

Another reason for high prices is a shortage of goods or products in the market place. No rain, for example, in the mid West has produced crop failures and shortages across the board. Produce in the market, canned goods and processed foods all cost more as a result. Farmers don't have the water for the crops. Cattle herds are being sold off prematurely because the ranchers can't afford to feed and water them. Meat remains cheap.

A third is artificially inflated wages - legislated by the Congress, like the minimum wage.

A fouth is incompetency by those producing the product lines, i.e. spending too much time to do a job that should or could have been done a lot cheaper had the mfg. hired or maintained competent workers.

Perhaps we should go to a piece meal earnings ratio and thereby cure two of thes inflationary artifical causes to high prices.

Work from home, make thousands a month, shop for a living, just send $29.95 and will get you started on an application. Is this a scam? Do people really send there credit card information to these people? Can anyone be trusted? Is it all about the buck? Aren't there any decent people left in the world. And just how is an unemployed person supose to come up with 20 to 50 dollars to put in an application on what I personnally consider a dream job?
To good to be true, or is it really easy as send the money and get a great job watching t.v. or shopping and making thousands of dollars a day?!!!

I gave a two week notice on 08/14/06.They told me to leave the same day and paid me till 08/16/06.I want to know: by law in NYC, am I not supposed to get paid in full for the next two weeks after the notice.Because if this is the case then they are firing me and I will request a letter that I am fired and I will apply for the unemployment until I find something better. If they will not want to do that, do I have the right to sue them?(It is a public company by the way)Thank you.

So I've been working as a "Finance Manager" at a local tech college. I'm making $35,000 with my MBA. (I live in Utah...the pay here is lame). My work duties include everything from writing grants to request funding for school projects to purchasing textbooks for instructors. The work I'm doing right now could be done by a high-school graduate...My boss, the campus president, has hopes of having me become the vice-president of the college.

Just yesterday I was offered (totally out of the blue) a position with a bank. They want a Controller who, within the next few years, WILL become the CFO of this billion-dollar bank. I hadn't even applied with this bank...they got wind of my credentials from a colleague. They are offering me $50,000 a year…the benefits are about the same and I would be doing a lot more MBA-geared work.

Obviously the actual moving expense, but what else is appropriate? Assistance in buying a house? House rental untill a house can be bought? Compensation for a spouse having to leave a job? What else should we try to get negotiated before we actually agree to go?

Is there any way I could get a good work in US? May be anyone could help?
