All my life i've wanted to work in theatre/film/tv..whether it was acting or doing the production side...however...I some how ended up doing acctg./financial work..and that's all my work experience has been. I've noticed lately that every acctg/fin. job i've had, I've always been miserable and dreaded going to work every day but it paid the bills. I'm at the point right now where I'm having a hard time finding a job in general and if i do it doesn't pay as much as it used to...I haven't given up on the acting/tv/film/theatre dream...but I don't know how to get into that either...and all related jobs to theatre and etc. are low paying/audition/volunteer jobs...which won't pay the bills...so I'm lost and I don't know what to do.

I'm 26 and i currently work at a acctg/financial job that barely pays enough for the rent because they only have me working 12 hours a week I've been applying for related jobs for the mean time but i'm not getting any calls...

so what to do?

I work for a $1 Billion Fortune 500 company in the healthcare industry.

We recently had to attend a "cultural diversity class."

The class included presentations on homosexuality and acceptance of that lifestyle choice as "normal."

I am offended that I was forced to listen to this type of homosexual propaganda. I am offended that I am forced to "accept" or feign acceptance of a lifestyle which is counter to everything heterosexual.

Homosexuality is a choice. Homosexuality is unlike other diverse distinctions such as race or gender. No one chooses their race or gender, and so it should be wrong to discriminate against them.

To allow the choice of one's sexuality to be treated the same as an ethnic group or gender is ludicrous. What's next? Acceptance of all sexual deviations: pedophilia, necrophilia, beastiality?

Do you feel it is right for a company to force such views on its employees?

Do I have the legal right to opt out of such employee classes?

I wrote a letter stating I knew I was getting paid less than a new employee and wanted to know why and if I wasn't worth it to them I would consider other options. Then I got fired! Is that right?

I am looking for a job that I can make some money off of. Not surveys or anything like that. I have found Avon and Ameriplan. Ameriplan sounds good, but not great. Avon is something I have seen people make money off of, but there are already plenty of women doing the Avon selling. I would like to hear from people who are selling either of these products to help me make my descison. You don't have to sell both. Any input would be great!

Let's say you're in a highly stressful occupation - doing the work of several people because management has put a moratorium on hiring; struggling to meet deadlines; working 12-15 hour days to complete a project that is due by the end of the month. It's affecting your family life. You're worried and exhausted. It's showing, and your coworkers and friends are concerned about you. Your boss calls you in and chastises you for appearing nervous and worried, and tells you to "internalize all that stress" around other people, but then come tell him what's wrong. Is that acceptable? Or, what would you say?
