First off, if you dont already know...... learn how to fill out an application. I'm not trying to be mean. I was a manager of a retail store for a long time, if the application was not filled out correctly, i wouldnt bother. Fill out several, and personally pick them up and drop them off. Dont have your mom or girlfriend do it, and dont give the sales person an attitude. Be respectful. Good luck!!

You mean, to find a job you can apply to or to get the job after you've applied?

Look online - Craigslist.org is a great site for job postings, as well as Monster.com. Also check newspaper listings.

Type up a good resume, include a reference sheet and objective. Include your skills and education and past work experience.

At the interview, give a firm handshake, maintain eye contact, look alert and smile. Sit up straight and try not to fidget or give away your nervousness in other ways. Don't trash talk previous employers even if you had bad experiences - keep it light.

Wear a suit and tie, and nice shoes. Bring a copy of your resume and references even if you already e-mailed or faxed it to them.

Realize that not all jobs are advertised in the newspaper or online. Some are registered with employment agencies or with school (high school / college) job boards. Some advertise from within so network with people you know (family, friends, etc.). Don't be afraid to just go out to places you would like to work and ask if they are hiring or if you can fill out an application. Get a resume' together and have a professional employment agency review it. Let's say you go to Starbucks and you get to interview with a Manager. Even if he/she isn't hiring, ask for their honest opinion of you and your resume. Take the advice constructively and your next interview may just land you that ideal job!!!

One of the best ways I believe is the old fashioned foot slogging.
You put your foot in the door and you may receive a couple of refusals but you will walk in that one door and it will be the one.
If you are confident in the field of work you want to enter into it will show and your motivation will shine through.
A case which I know of walked in to a place of business and was asked what he wanted he answered "a job",
They replied "yes you and a million others",
He answered "yes but I am not a million others" .
This got their attention and when asked what he could do he received the job.
He has the attitude of a fair days work for a fair days pay.
Takes pride in what he does never takes days off always on time.
And can be relied upon to get the job done.
The old fashioned way is still the best way I believe.
Try it you will be pleasantly surprised.
A failure is not someone who makes a mistake a failure is someone who never learns from his mistakes.
A champion is someone who makes a mistake picks himself up brushes himself off and moves on.
All the best!

The best way to get a job is to get training through the employment office or college. Also you can ask others who work in the profession that you are interested in how they got started. Check your classified sections in the newspaper and maintain a good appearance and confidence in yourself. Good luck!

Try craigslist.org. You will be able to find a section for a city near you. There will be a lot of local listings of a myriad of jobs. You could try monster.com or look in the newspaper, as well.
