Why is it that the more money people have the more ignorant they become? I have a sister who thinks she is better than me because she mooches off her b/f, who makes 200k a year, and I am not a good mom because I use daycare and work, and because I have less money than her or her b/f. Also, I have friends who say that they refuse to work for less than 20 or 30$$$ an hour, then complain that they can't afford to pay their bills. Why is it that the poorest people are the ones who know how to enjoy life so much more? It seems the more you have, the more dang miserable and bitter people become.....
The most positive people I know are the poorest, and the best people who know how to really enjoy the simple pleasures of life are the ones who can't afford to do too much. Does money buy happiness, or just misery? If so, I would never want to be rich, or have too much money, it would make me such a biatch, and I wouldnt enjoy myself at all!!

please dont tell me that they work harder because i know that the poorest people have to work the hardest for less recognition. I can appreciate that you may work hard for what you have, but it is more stressful to not have the money than to work for it or to have it, so there is no excuse for the negative attitude that comes when people have that money or prestige and flaunt it...

Money amplifies all the bad people have within themselves. If they were closet aholes, they become full blown ones.
With money, the 'newly rich' feel they are invulnerable, don't need anyone anymore, and if thus inclined will crap on people, even if there is no reason to, other than making themselves feel important at the expense of everyone around them.
In other words, low lifes.

OK, me and you have a totally different definition of 'rich' people!
So, you know some folks who have done well financially and it's turned them into monsters. It's a common story. I lived it once. It's noting I'm proud of either, but I did learn from it.
Oh, and there is nothing more sad and disgusting than the nouveaux rich...the "New Rich" people who just became rich. They are insecure, tacky, outlandish and obnoxious. Think the Gotti people on TV or any rap star.....ugly nouveaux rich!!!!
People with "Old Money" know to be much lower key about wealth, as it really doesn't "buy you anything" with the right people.
I've found that only the very rich, very old and the poor understand that money and material wealth can actually prevent happiness. Happiness and fulfillment in life can be achieved with nothing but the bare essentials. Oh, the getting and having things is fun, but when it gets in the way of the real valuables things in life it can ruin you.
I've known many wealthy people that are miserable....just as I have known beggars that seem to have all the secrets of life.
Also, generalizations and stereotypes can be dangerous. There are m any unhappy poor and there are many rich people that have figured out
"It's not what you get in life that counts....it's what you GIVE!"

Can't change your attitude towards rich people, but I found out that having more money doesn't bring you much happiness and just brings more worry. No, I'm not ignorant either.
I used to live in the Bay Area in a $1M home and i used to have anxiety attacks over rain because my windows (improperly installed) leaked during a major rainstorm and I thought my $1M castle would disintegrate.
I finally got the problem fixed...more $$$$. I want the best for my family...good schools, comfortable home and these things come at a price. Normally, you pay through the nose to have your kids go to the better school districts. That's a fact of life...unless you home school.
I also found out that the more $$$$ you have, the more toys you buy so in the end you're not really better off than those who live more simply.

Sadly a great many people feel that money can buy happiness and only look at things from the money perspective. They feel that they themselves aren't successful if they aren't earning more than they were which is why they don't want to take a lower paying job. (This way they can balme the county/economy for their problems and not have to blame themselves)
They tie all of their happiness up in their money and for the most part are only happy when they can flaunt that money and but/do things which take lots of money. Then if they lose a job they really don't know what to do because they haven't saved anything.

Money does not bring happiness--but it does give you more options. It is up to the individual to choose the right options. Many act the way you describe and they usually end up broke or miserable or both. There are many well to do people who are generous and try to help lesser fortunate people. I've known some extremely wealthy people and you would never know that they had tons of money---they don't flaunt it. As far as your sister's b/f---he is not wealthy by far---and since she is not married to him, she isn't wealthy at all. Many people are up to there ears in debt trying to keep up with the appearances. Its not how much you can spend, or how much material things you have, its how much money you can hold on to.

I have noticed when certain people have money they think they are better than anybody on the planet which we all know they are not. Just because someone has lots of money doesn't make them inferior to anyone. True honest people are the hard working people who use every dollar on their families and not so much on themselves. Money doesn't buy happiness, it may for a little while, but there are always problems when lots of money is involved.

You don't get rich from having an easy life, and working hard for what you get is stressful and frustrating. There are pressures and responsibilities that people who do not have this kind of money do not understand. I have had it both ways, and prefer to be comfortable - not too little, not too much.

What I am reading here is the typical mindset of a poor person. They knock the rich and say they would never want to be like them...only because it validates their choice to be poor.
Many people are rich and happy, and very kind people. You might want to rub shoulders with them before you pass judgement on them.
Incidently, you don't sound like you are too happy as a poor person either, you are doing exactly what you are knocking them for! Bad-mouthing them! So I see being poor doesn't buy happiness either.
People choose to be poor and back it up by a million obstacles they have created and people who are successful just choose to eliminate those obstacles. Life is about choices.
I wasn't born with money or education, it was something I had to acquire.
You say the most positive people you know are the poorest, I hope you don't classify yourself as one of them, because you are very negative.
Time to completely change your thinking so that you can give your children the best possible chance for success in this world, and I think we all want that for our kids. Telling them stories like you just ranted about here, is programming them for failure.
It's not that difficult to get ahead in this world and give yourself and your children the best possible lifestyle, you just have to want it.

I've lived in a car and a tent, and those were the best days I've had. Soon I'm moving out of my mom's AGAIN and moving into a squat with some random punks. Should be a fun time :D

Nouveau rich. It's all about show for them. It's the fear of loosing it that makes them act this way. Who would they impress if they did not have any? Who would like them?
Money does not buy happiness. It buys security.
