What should I do?
I am in the midst of hopefully switching Jobs. I had an interview on friday, for a decent job with a fantastic company. It went well

Meanwhile back at the ranch. My boss at my short bus job ****** me over. Here's how it happened. One bus run was disolved because of a driver who retired. So they took the montior for that run and put her on MY bus and shifted me off the bus with the driver and kids I have worked with for two years, but me on a bus with kids who are behavior problems and proceeded to also cut my hours. They had all summer to tell me this was going to happen but chose to suprise me with it. Also my boss had a chance to tell me when I decided to be upfront about my interview privately. She chose to break the news to me by handing me a folder in front of a crowd of people.

The dilema is this. Even if I dont get THIS new job I am not working there much longer. I have 25 sick days I never used. My mother who also is my union rep. is furious that I am contemplating calling in sick all the time to use my paid sick days. However, I feel like they screwed me and I want that money. I have been nothing but loyal to these people.

When applying for a new job can the company find out the reason for leaving your last job? Can they find out whether you resigned or were let go? Also, if you were in fact let go can they find out what you were let go for? I'm having an arguement with a buddy of mine and he thinks they can't find out. Anyone know?

Heard some restaurants sometimes give the staff food to take home because they sell only freshly made stuff for good reputation. I know it's a vague question, but I'm a college student who is looking for a part-time job without any specific position in mind. Does anyone know how much UPS pays for the various student-type positions (an hour)? I'm also interested in airport jobs and any student-type jobs that pay the best (relatively).

Thanks in advance.

I live in CA but want to move to the Seattle area for a change of scenery. How should I go about securing a job first? Do most companies discourage hiring out of state candidates? Maybe I should move there first. Has anyone been through this before?

See at my job you have to be here on time work your full 8 hour shift two work days before and after the Holiday. Now I had to leave "the first day that rule started" to go get my sick daughter out of school. And I lost my Holiday pay because I didn't work my full 8 hour shift. Even though it wasn't planned for my daughter to get sick. Do you think this was right or what. It isn't even updated in the company hand book. There is holiday pay; yet there are retrictions like I am buying a damn product. Please give me your adult professional opinions!

I work for a small company in FL, I am an hourly employee and have been working for them for about 3 months. In the past week due to the tropical storm I was sent home early on 8/29 to prepare for the storm. On 8/30 I arrived at work to find that they decided to close the office for the day. But I was here ready and willing to work. Then on Friday 9/1 I was again sent home early b/c business was slow that day and my boss wanted to get home. So I am wondering if for those days I should be paid b/c I was ready, willing and able to work. Also when I was hired I was told that it was a full time position with overtime available during busy season. I think I should be paid but my boss is tight with his pennies so I a have a feeling that he won't pay me.

Besides the point but to add insult to injury: 2 weeks ago they just cut my hours a bit so instead of leaving at 6 I have to leave at 5 so my paycheck is already diminishing before my eyes as they have chopped 5 hours off my schedule.

My co-worker is rather large about 350 pounds. He doen’t do any work and it’s pissing me off. I work for the state department in dc in shipping and receiving all we have to do is receive the packages I handle UPS and he does Fed Ex. I do my work as soon as it comes in around 9:15 he won’t do his share. He takes breaks all day and runs his mouth to various people in the building. I have told my contracting office who told my boss but they won’t fire him. I’m looking for another job but I haven’t had much luck. I dread coming to work sometimes. I actually cried yesterday when I thought about having to come in. WHAT DO I DO PLEASE HELP!!

I can go hours and no one will come in but let me let one fly, and it's like bees to honey. Someone always seems to come in just in time to be gassed. I hate that.
