you have to study a few years to get Masters degree or get teaching crudentials, but once you do get certified -- high school teachers are in really short demand, so you'll be very useful if you are willing to put up with a bunch of uncontrollable teenagers

It depends. If you have a teaching certificate and you are willing to work in the southeastern US, you should be able to get a job by showing up for an interview.
The City of Pittsburgh, PA school district laid off 82 teachers before the start of the school year. Your chances of getting a teaching job in Pittsburgh are zero and none.
