Someone under the name Gam Zo Letovah today refused my invitation to join in positive and peaceable discussion on this forum, stating that my own willingness to do so amounts to dangerous naivety.

Is he/she right? Is it complete folly to make any attempt to improve inter-faith relations? Worse still, is it actually dangerous to try to do so? What damage might such forum chat cause?

Have any of you been positively affected by anything anyone has said in this forum, which has made you view members of other races or religions with a little less anger and suspicion? Or has your overall experience merely intensified them?

Do you think peacemakers are wasting their breath, both here and in the world outside?

When I point with the mouse on the star symbol it says inactive star, what does that mean? If I click on it, it says who starred it, but just pointing to it it says inactive star, any idea what that is?

I am flying in and trying to decide if I should rent a car, use a shuttle service or if taking a taxi would be better. I would like to go the least expensive way. I know that either the shuttle or the taxi would be easier because I wouldnt be driving, but if renting a car would be less expensive I could go that way also ( I am pretty good with directions ) If someone has done this before or has any good ideas that would be great. Thank you.

Hi,
Thinking about moving to Silver Spring, but too many to choose from. Can anybody recommend me some areas/apartments? I am looking for a place that is not so isolated, I can live by the street, having shops (like starbucks) right around the corner. thank you!!

My husband may be getting a job their soon...frankly, though, california is one of the last places I ever wanted to live. From what I know, it is polluted, crowded, expensive and full of botox barbies...not what I had in mind. Can someone who lives there tell me about any more family friendly areas? Are they supportive of breastfeeding? Homebirthing, midwives, delayed vaccinations? Are many places pet friendly? What is there to go do with a toddler without worrying about the area? I know I may seem overly paranoid but I have heard very little I like about the place outside of surfing...and even then I have to worry about my little boy seeing a bunch of people with not enough on...
Please someone, have some good news to help me ease my mind!

I may be going to New Zealand to work there next summer. Depending on how much money I've got when I'm done with my internship, I would like to spend some time traveling around. But I don't want to be rushed in leaving because of my plane ticket back. Is there any kind of system where I can buy a ticket in advance that will enable me to leave on any day that I so desire, instead of a designated day? Serious answers only please!

I will be working in Japan for 3 months, where the dress code is conservative business professional. How many different suits will I need? (also, recommendations on what color/style of suits to buy would be good).

bestonnet made a good response on ithinkiate's question. He/she basically said, what does it matter if the colonial Americans aren't alive today? Wouldn't the same defense count for the Turks? You, me, and the rest of the Yahoo Turkey community was never alive when the "supposed" genocide occured, so why should we have to discuss this issue if the US can't even discuss their issues?
