There is an old run-down cement plant that has been closed for years now. It's close to home on Wurzbach Pkwy between Perrin Beitel and Thousand Oaks called Longhorn Cement Factory (now closed) They have some old smoke stacks from the 1800's that look awesome in a black and white picture. There is some structures in there too that are really aged...they too look good in black and white. I have
18 X 24 black and white framed pictures in my apartment living room.

You could go to Comanche Lookout Park on Nacogdoches @ Judson Rd. It is so beautiful there. There is a lot of nice things (nature) to take pictures of. You can go up the trail and take pictures of the view from up there. It's a 3/4 mile long trail.

Selma/Garden Ridge/Shertz, TX are 3 little towns (in Bexar County) that are super clean and still have old buildings and structures that are empty, but are nice to take pictures.

Crownridge Park near I-10 and LaCantera has nature trails, art features, and beautiful sights

If you have more time, go to Canyon Lake and take some pictures there...that's another beautiful place near San Antonio. Canyon Lake is in the middle of San Antonio and Austin...you can either take I-35 or 281. I always take I-35, it takes a little longer but the sights along the way are beautiful once you exit 35.

There is a beautiful sunset over either Medina Lake or Canyon Lake (at Canyon Lake my favorite view is from the cliff over Canyon Lake Marina). In the Spring go up to the Hwy between Johnson City and Frederickburg and take pictures of the wild flowers. Float down the Guadalupe and take pictures as the scenery passes. Though common a great photo is always the Christmas lights reflecting off the San Antonio River at the Riverwalk. it never fails to chill me (of course it is colder that time of year, LOL) Go west around Hondo and take pictures of the creeks and streams where the springs flow. This area is full of wonderful and beautiful sites. Some of the things I like to do is go to the old missions and old buildings and place the camera to get unusual angles of the windows and the light coming through windows and doors. It is up to the photographer to make the picture special instead of common. Look at what Avedon did with black and white photos of poor and migrant people, or Ansel Adams photos. Those are the same sites everyone else can photograph, but the photographer made them special.

US_DR_JD has stolen my thunder, only I lean very heavy toward the Medina lake both sun rise and sun set Go out to the lake by going out 471 and turning on Lake road. As you come to the "T" in the road there you will be looking out over the lake, you would have to be a pretty cold fish not to think that it is just beautiful. Pedernales Falls and Garner Parks are both super with some fabulous wild life and water running in both parks.

Here in San Antonio a best kept secret of a great place to get a few photos. On Ingram Road behind Ingram Square there is an area that they close off to traffic as the water will come up over the road, but once they open it back up behind the bus port and staying on the road way walk to the middle of the bridge and look to your right, you will see a water fall there that will knock your socks off.
