I live in the NYC vicinity and often read questions posted in this area. I read tons about 'affordable' or 'cheap' hotels and just have to ask.
What do visitors think is reasonable, affordable, and/or cheap in NYC?
Do you realize that the local roach motel will easily run you $100-$150 per night?
Do you realize that a 'decent' accomodation is going to cost about $200 per night and up?

I think NYC costs are probably 2 to 3 times as high as other destinations. Is this something that travelers to NYC factor in?

Is it helpful if I recommend a $200+ per night hotel that is clean and - for NYC - reasonably priced?

We were considering cruising to San Juan, then staying there for a week, then cruising back home - sort of like using the cruise as a flight, only enjoying the cruise days at sea and really not stopping at any other ports. Has anyone done this?

I'm in NYC, so there is obviously lots to do with a 4yo youngster. We're trying to find something new for our little guy to enjoy. We want to have a nice fun filled family day this Sunday. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I'm wanting to go to Australia over Christmas and New Year for about three weeks with my husband.
We would like a stop over for one or two nights in Asia somewhere.
I've had a quick look on the internet but the flights seem really expensive. Has anyone got any experience and know any good websites? Will the flights get cheaper nearer the time or will we just have to stump up about £1200 each?

My son was born in the US and he is only 2 months old now. Can he fly with me to a foreign country without a passport? Is it sufficient to only show his birth certificate to the custom and to get his flight ticket?

We are moving from an apartment to a house. The apt we are living in has roaches. I'm not sure of how big of a problem it is because I've never had roaches before. I probably see 3-4 roaches a day. I don't want to bring these roaches to our new house. I have bought boric acid and roach motels to set out in the apt. We are not moving for another 2 weeks so hopefully there is time for them to die before we move. We don't have a lot of money so an exterminator or a uhaul is out of the question. What can I do to leave the roaches here and not move them to our new house?

I am going to be flying into Paris, France and then taking the train to Marseille. I have never been to France or taken the rail there. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there a way to buy your plane ticket and the train ticket at the same time?

Thx,
Michelle

I always see these spots available and I have parked in them a couple of times, but I go towed the other night for parking somewhere else. So now I am a little weary as to wear to park in Hollywood.

I know you can do it in San Diego, but LA does not care about San Diego.

Does anybody know how much a carton of eggs cost in Holland? in addition, if you can add a reference to a relevant page on some website, (for example: a vegetables section on a Dutch supermarket website) it will be a great help.

Thanks!

I am going to Las Vegas in October to celebrate my 21st birthday. I have never been there before and I'm not sure about anything. I just want help with the following
-where to stay (I love action, do I want to stay on the strip?) we probably will not go back again for a while so price is really not an issue
-when to book (we are not going until October, when will I get the best rates on both airfare and hotel)
-what is there to do (obviously gamble, but I want to know the best places to go for dining, gambling, shows, etc.)

I knew that the temps were hot b.c. obviously its the desert-BUT, I just looked up the temps for today and holy wow. It's like 104-110 during the day and 80 at night. Where I live its 75 with 95 degree humidity and I practically fall over. At night it ranges from 40-70. On averages its mid 50's. Anyways, can someone tell me the average temps? I think I need to buy some light dresses for this trip! lol.

I will be flying through Amsterdam and my dog will be shipping as cargo. I have a 9 hour layover in Amsterdam and was told that the airline (Northwest/KLM) has people who will feed and walk my dog during this layover. The dog is a Rotweiller and is actually very friendly, but may be nervous around strangers without me there. I would like to make a sign to attach to the outside of the crate and I would like it to be in English/Dutch/Arabic. I have someone who can help with the Arabic already but I need someone to translate the following paragraph into Dutch:
