My partner and I are currently filling out our Visa application to live in Oz, We're a bit stuck though! It says you need a Skills Assessment from the relevent Authorised Agency.... Who are they? We have worked out we have 130 points from online forms but we need a proper form and I don't know where to turn! He's a welder so who do we get this Authorised Skills Assessment form from?

What they are wanting is an assessment by "their" relevant authorised agency, which for a welder would be "Trades Recognition Australia (TRA)". You need to download or get a form from them. Fill it in with all your relevant qualification certificates etc. They will assess your skill against an Aussie equivalent and issue you a letter you can include in your visa application. The link below has all the info.
Good luck, I wish I could migrate there too.

my advice would be to contact the austrailan embassy and the british embassy and see if they can advisefurther....as australia is a country which prefers immigrants who have "skills" or are employed ina "skilled profession" i would imagine they want evidence of those skills, so say for example a qualification which proves your skills or the evidence of say being registered with a relevant authority or agency within a certai profession......eg, like a doctor/lawyer is registered with the general medical council, or lawyer with the law society........as hes a welder, maybe he has a qualification/award to confirm this, or he is registered with a company which he works for(they could then verify he has the skills and is a welder......hopr that meakes sense and helps........first though contact the embassy's i say....good luck, hope it works out....down under is a great place......!!

In English,I think they probably want your city and guilds papers(or similar) to say you are an experienced and certified welder.Good luck with your application,it is a wonderful country to live in but has become quite expensive in the last 10 years or so while the wages have not significantly increased.(bit like here!!).
