I am going to be flying into Paris, France and then taking the train to Marseille. I have never been to France or taken the rail there. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there a way to buy your plane ticket and the train ticket at the same time?

Thx,
Michelle

You can easily buy the ticket in advance online.
look at
Raileurope.com.
They sell single tickets. I'm not sure if they mail you a ticket or email you a confirmantion #.
You can also buy it at the train station at Paris airport. There are direct trains from Paris CDG airport that bypass the city if you're in a hurry to get south. The TGV goes direct and takes about 3.5 hours. Or from Paris, go to Gare de Lyon and buy a ticket for Marseille. At peak travel season, you might have to take the 2nd or 3rd train if you just walk up and try to buy a ticket, or you might be lucky. Buy it in advance if you want to be sure.

go to raileurope.com. I just got back from Europe and took many trains while I was there. Dragging luggage on and off is difficult so pack lightly if possible. I would recomment getting your tickets in advance as the trains do fil up. You will be assigned a specific seat in a specific car. You can always change your ticket for an earlier or later train without any problem once oyu have a ticket.

Michelle, go to the official page of the french railway company.
http://www.voyages-sncf.com/leisure/fr/launch/home/

I know that it's a french page, but you can go to the bottom of the page, and on your left, you will find the Union Jack flag.

Click on it, and after you know how to do.

Quick informations:
count 3h or 3h15 by TGV.
77€ for a 2nd class ticket (normal period)
130€ for a 1st class ticket (normal period)
