My son was born in the US and he is only 2 months old now. Can he fly with me to a foreign country without a passport? Is it sufficient to only show his birth certificate to the custom and to get his flight ticket?

I do not think so. I think every US citizen has to have a passport to travel. I looked and couldn't find out on the website but there is a number I would suggest you can as opposed to advice on here.

Your baby MUST have his own passport. See website below for correct info and how to apply for the passport.

Just learned something new that may help you. Currently, children under 16 may travel WITHOUT a passport...but you must have APPLIED for a passport for the child. The child can travel with his parents with just the proof of application for the passport...so if you are travelling soon , this may help you.

I have faced this situation 10 months ago. You have to issue a passport for your child even if he is 1 day age. Also, there is a express service if you would.

Have a nice and safe trip

NEVER travel without proper identification for your child!! Not just for the laws, but for your own protection should the child become separated from you for any reason.
