i am very fast when it come to short sprints but i almost pass out in long distance runs. When i try to practice long distance i can't keep a slow pace and i end up sprinting and then can't go anymore. Is there anything i can do to learn to run a long run, like jumping rope, that helped me in sprinting? thanks.

For school, we're not allowed to have music in 'apperantly it messes up your pace', so i was wondering what are some good thorughts to keep in your head while running long, boring distances?

I am 16 and have entered my first half marathon (21.1km), recently in training runs, i have been experiencing what feels like a runny stomach when i push hard in a 10km. Also any recommendations for diet leading up to the race. I know in cycling you carbo load?

a little background info on me:
male
age 16
5'7 (170cm)
124lbs (54kg)
overpronator
flat feet (currently not using orthodics with my running shoes)

okay now that you know all that, on to the question. my current 100m time is 12.09sec and i've been working hard for the past few months reducing it from 12.98sec. my problem is when i hit the 12.09sec mark i hit a wall. no matter how hard i trained i couldn't work past that time and break into the 11sec times. so i hope that someone with at least moderate track experience can help me out with anything i can to do finally break into the 11s.

second question, i'm thinking about trying to learn how to do hurdles and i'm interested in knowing about form, technique, speed play, ect.

Hi, im kinda new to running. i decided to start running to get in better shape, and well..because ive always liked it. but everytime i go out for a run, my quads get extremely sore. I dont know it its my form, or if its becasue i am kinda new still. ive always had this probleme, and it makes me want to stop running, but i dont want to do that, so if anyone could give me advice about propper running form, that would be great. also, i want to run longer distances, but for now, my runs are only about a mile or two. if anyone could also give me advice on how to increase my distances. thanks!

Im flat footed and need some new running shoes. Im wondering which shoes will be effective for my feet. Ive looked at the Asics Gel 1110 (http://www.zappos.com/images/718/7189790/827-185538-d.jpg). Idk whether these are gud for a person with flat feet like me. Are these good for me? If not, does anyone know any good shoes for overpronation that are fairly cheap?

I really want to start cross country
I like running but I don't know if I have the endurance to do it
My mile time is pretty slow (8.30-9.15)
and Im not as physically fit as the runners
but im also not overweight
oh yea..i also have asthma but it doesn't kick in that much any more
also, during the summer training camp the runners run about 4-8 miles everyday on weekdays
i'm really scared that if i join, i will literally throw up on the first run
so yea
any suggestions or training tips??
