Finish the race. Otherwise its disrespectful for you teammates and all the other participants in the relay. Besides, in most cases you won't know that you've been disqualified until the race is over anyway so its a good habit to finish the race.
And yes, I have been disqualified before, in my state meet of all places. I've also ran a 4x400 where I had to leap over a runner that fell over in my exchange zone just to see that team not get disqualified and win the race.

it would probably be better to finish the race, it makes u look better. =) and usually you dont know that ur dqued until after race.
a relay team from my school got dqed at state because one persons uniform was different than the rest. that is so stupid...they actually got first i think so we lost those points but we still ended up doing really good.

I say it depends on the culture of your team. In high school my coach always wanted us to finish our race no matter what. However, when I got to a major Division One college team, our coach told us there was no since in running if a flag was thrown up in our lane as the time wouldn't count anyway. You may want to check with your coach about this. Sometimes just to be on the safe side it doesn't hurt to finish your race in case you might be wrong about being disqualified in the first place. Hope that helps!

depends, some just stop and stay there. i would recommed you finish the race anyways, giving it your all. it will show that you're a good sport. it will make your school look good. it will also give you an idea of where the team stands. what happen, did you pass the marking line, drop the boton, got out of your lane? [my track team's relay team, both female and male varsity got disqualified--and they finished the race anyways. one of them droped the boton, the other sliped and passed the marking line] or you can ask your coach, or teammates with experience. good luck

Always finish the race. The final decision on DQ's doesnt take place till after the race so don't quit.

if you know for a fact that your team has been dqed then it is better not to run and conserve your energy for another event
