I'm 42 trying to get back in the my running. The last time I ran was ten years ago with a weekly mileage average of 25-30 per week.

Now, I just want to train for 5Ks and 10KS, but after my runs, my lower stiffens.

I'm not in pain, just stiff!

I've tried yoga and pilates and focus slowly when the segments involve back stretches.

I just don't know what this is. It's never happened before.

Have other runners (new and experienced) had stiff lower backs?

Okay I am not athletic but I want to do track this year (for the 1st time, I'm a total beginner and a highschool sophmore) no matter how bad I suck.

But what sucks is that while running the 400 and 100 today (both my times suck big time for these, blah) I definitely pulled something in my left quad? It really hurt my time, I had to almost stop toward the end because my leg stiffened up and hurt BAD while running. I thought it was just the cold weather/shorts I wore today but after I went to the gym and collapsed using the squat machine... with and without added weights..

We're testing our mile runs tomorrow... My thigh hurts like crazy and my legs are like dead.. aah i hate being out of shape... I've been trying to ice it but it's not really doing much..

What the heck I am supposed to do for tomorrow? It's the 2nd day of track and I'm already injured? Obviously I'm out of shape but is there ANY WAY to make this pain in my thigh GO AWAY?

Im a sprinter, but we do long ladder workouts and such occasioanlyl the distance run too, but recently ive been having really had it seems like shin splints? I had these last year too and they practically ruined my season

THe trainer says i have flat feet, i never new that but they dont look too flat to me. i guess its kinda mild. Anyway its got something to do with overpronation etc.

he recommended that i run with inserts or insoles. so i got some soft gel ones and they seem to help a little. Once i get warmed up my shins are almost pain free. but while warming up it still hurts to do plyometrics and such.

is this still a problem or is it just hte previous damage ive done to my shins. Also, i no there are those hard insoles (they're cushined, but the botton is plastic) are those better or are the soft gel ones better. I think the harder ones provide more support. Any ideas as to how else i can cope with this problem?

SO far i no u need to strech ur calves but thats aboutit

I'm currently running about 10 miles a week (along with Xtraining) and really want to bump that up enough to do a half-marathon (in 6 months!). I know the best thing to do is join a training program, but I'm also looking at books. Can anyone reccommend which of these 3 would be the best? Or even recommend a good one for a runner who is not quite a beginner, but not intermediate either?

Track tryouts are coming up and I need to be in tip-top shape. I'm a really fast runner and there is no question i will make the team as long as I'm not heaving for breath after every sprint and not taking breaks. Please show me what might work.

I am a pretty good 800 runner, around 2:30, but every so often, my arms cramp up, and I fall back to like 2:50. Any good stretch that can prevent that?

I have been running since last June. i am very dedicated and have gone fromgasping for my last breath at 1/2 mile to running 6 miles now. I have been fairly pain and injury free until lately. I have had some minor shin splints but i can usually run that off after the first mile. My concern now is moderate pain in my left heal especially in the part that runs up the back of my left heal. It is more noticeable after a run and not so much during. Any ever experience this?
