There are seven people on a varsity team, although many more may run especially in smaller dual meets. The top 5 score points for your team. 1st place is one point, 2nd 2 points, etc. the 6th and 7th runners can displace the other teams top 5 runners to give them more points. The team with the least amount of points wins. If the points are tied up it depends on whose 6th man finishes first. the best possible score is 15-50 which is known as "shooting the moon"

It is always exciting when a race is decided between teams based on what place the all important 7th runner got. I have seen this decide who won the state championship in Maine back in 2004. The top 4 teams were seperated by 2 points. Although most of the time it's only the top 5 that figure into the scoring, the 6th and 7th runners can displace other teams top 5 runners and therefore make their score higher. XC is like golf low score wins.

Can vary,as indeed can the scoring.Usually, the top six score, with 1 point given to first home,2 points to second etc.The team with lowest points scored wins.Disc distributors give out recognition discs at the start of the race and finishing order discs at the end.Tunnel controllers are people who marshall the competitors into the defined route.Competitors are numbered according to ability to facilitate, those of equal ability, starting, running and finishing within a specific time zone possibly to help media coverage,as well as organisational reasons.Phew!!!! that was a marathon.

A varsity XC team is made up of 7 runners and the top 5 of them score... The way that the scoring works is the lowest score wins... First place scores one point and it goes the same way like 2nd place scores 2 points ect. A perfect score in XC is 15/50... You get a 15/50 by sweeping your opponents whole team, leaving you with 15 points and them with 50

Hello, I am a runner myself. As many as there is on the team may participate in the race. Only 6-7 count for scoring. Usually there will be 8-9 people on a team.

The top seven runners are considered varsity for that race on each team. Basically the number postion u get is the amount of points ur team receives. Points obviously are bad.

You need 5 runners to field a team and all five must complete the race to figure in the scoring.

7 people to a team, top 5 score, but if there is a tie they look to their 6th and 7th man
