would like to hear from coaches and athletes that have been in track. i am a first year coach. my athletes moan and groan with the things i try and want to revert back to the way things were last year. anyway, i have been starting with a short warmup, stretch and form running with some jump rope in there. what else might i try? what other form drills are good? i have them do high knees, skip for height, stride out, kick butts, and karoake. any help would be great.

It's a nike sdm triax 100, but I don't know if that matters. I went for a run this morning and used the stopwatch, then sometime during the day the entire display "lit up". None of the buttons work, you can't tell time, you can't use any function. What is going on?

Hello.
I am a sophomore in highschool and I have a track meet tomorrow. I'll be running the open 800m. Since
this meet is an indoor one, one lap around the track is
only 200m. I was wondering if any of you had any
good techniques of running the 800m? Should I be going really fast the first lap around? The last lap?
Your help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Asics Gel-Kanbarro or Nike Air Max Mimic or something like that..

Not expensive, and they're right in front of my face. Which should I get or should I keep looking?

I have heard it is good to change the direction that you run around the track to avoid shin splints and to ensure no strength inbalances
Please give sources( so I can give it to my Track Coach)

I currently have a pair of Nikes but they haven't held up like I had hoped. I usually do about 10kms a weeks and have a mostly neutral foot position. I'm looking around the $70-80USD range. I've been told Asics are good.

I've been running for many years off and on, but in the past few months, I've been running pretty regularly. I'm up to 4.5 miles. About three fourths of the way through my run, my knees begin to hurt. They hurt for a couple of hours after running, but then the pain and pressure goes away. Why does this happen, and how can I avoid it?

im 6'2 230lbs. 20 years old.

Last time I timed myself in a mile I ran it in 7:55 (min)

Yeah I know that is horriable.

I want to get under 7min.

Plus lose another 30lbs.

How can I do this.

Former football player trying to slim up.

He prefers "no show". The socks he has get all stretched out and rub his baby toes and balls of his feet. I'd like to find him some that are good and absorbent along with being nice and comfy. Yesterday, after winning the 400 meter, his feet were so torn up from his socks that he couldn't compete in the 4x4 relay. Runners, take your marks and help us! Thanks a bunch!

Approximately how many seconds faster can the average person run a 5k per pound of bodyweight lost, ceritus paribus??

Ran a 21:32 on a hilly course about a month ago. Looking to crack 20 at next week's race. I dropped from 200lbs to 195lbs.

If you would, please e-mail me and I can direct you to her online sponsor form.

I just think she's really brave and I'd like to drum up some support for her

(I used to be her teacher).

Thanks in advance, anyone who would like to!

Track is seriously discouraging me these past 2 wks. Last week I injured my quad;its still injured, I strained the quad muscle in my left leg & it keeps pulling as I run.
Today I think I managed to get shin splints even though I have been taking the runs easier/jogging &haven't really done a hard run in 4-5 days.
I'm pretty much the slowest on the team (not THE slowest but close enough) & I have absolutely NO endurance for long distance; the mile made me want to throw up so I decided to do sprinting.
This is my first time doing track, as a highschool sophmore, (Actually this is my first time doing a sport/anything athletic ever) & being around a lot of people who are loads better than me is beginning to really discourage me, being the slowest & least athletic/strong person on the team. Honestly I'm the only one who hasnt done a sport before & I'm totally unexperienced & unathletic.. Can anyone give me advice to help keep me motivated to do this? (btw I'm skinny, just not athletic)
