He prefers "no show". The socks he has get all stretched out and rub his baby toes and balls of his feet. I'd like to find him some that are good and absorbent along with being nice and comfy. Yesterday, after winning the 400 meter, his feet were so torn up from his socks that he couldn't compete in the 4x4 relay. Runners, take your marks and help us! Thanks a bunch!

Most runners I know don't like cotton for socks, but I personally don't mind. Chances are your son is having problems because of the cotton. Check out a specialty running store. The employees are trained and knowlegeable in the area of running (which you won't find at a general sports store), and they will also carry special running socks. They are a little pricey but they last, and your son should be able to find something that makes his feet happy.

Here is a link to a list of specialty running stores all over the US and Canada...hopefully you can find something near you.

Peds make a sock that don't show. My roomate (fellow runner) swore by them. You can actually find them at target and walmart. Coolmax (what I wear) is a brand that is wonderful because the material wicks away sweat preventing blisters- they also stay put which too help preventing blisters. They too can be found at target as well as sports stores.

Cotton is the worst way to go. they give you horrible blisters and don't wear well. When he races and a suggestion; I never wore socks with my track spikes. I ran the 400, 800 and 3200. Just a thought. Good luck!

I buy Under Armour socks for both of my kids that are in track. They like them because they are thin, but no show.
You can get them at any sporting goods store, like *****, Sports Authority, etc.
