Roughly 1/3 of all runners experience some type of stomach pain. The most common types are side stitches and runner's trots (loose bowels). Both of these are not what you described, so we are definitely dealing with something slightly unusual here.

If you feel strong pain in your stomach after only two miles into your running, it is most likely that you have naturally weaker stomach muscles that are having difficulty handling the movement of your intestines. Doing abdominal exercises like situps or crunches will help you build them up so that your pain is reduced. Also, you should try to eat and drink well before your runs so that there is not too much loose food in your stomach that will bounce around and cause you pain.

If applying these suggestions does not alleviate your problem over time, then we may be dealing with something more serious, and you should contact a doctor to get checked out.

Good luck.

I would make sure not to eat anything about 2 1/2 hours before you run. That might be part of the reason. Its also to be well hydrated, but not too much! It might hurt because you are pushing yourelf and going fast!

make sure that you arent eating any foods the day of your race or even the night before that could upset your stomach or make it burn such as peppers of any sort or spicy foods..also make sure you warm up before you race very good and even though my stomach doesnt hurt i eat a tum or antacid before EVERY race

It just...happens. Try drinking eletrolites a bit before your race so you have them in your body.

different strokes for different folks

when I run it happens to me if I am tense

I try to losen up good first and be in practice

my best prayer that helped me -was asking Jesus to help me and to be my savior and friend, forgive my sins and to my heart come in, amen." John 3 and Revelation 3:19&20th verses knockin on our heart door to come in
