I have until January 13th, 2008 to train for a 1/2 Marathon. Is it possible to successfully train for something like that in only 3 months? I have not previously been running, but I am 23 and in decent shape.

I don't have the stamina to go long distances, I start to get winded after a mile and a half, I need to go the long haul. I want to get to the point where I can at least jog a nice steady, pace for at least 3 miles. How can I achieve this?

What techniques will help me when im running slow or faster than usual? Im not a fast runner im actually the slowest on my team, I ran last year and even then I was slow. Im like 2 minutes slower I dont know if its the fact that I have a hip flexor problem or if its that I use this inhaler that is suppose to open up my lungs which doesnt feel like it does anything. When I try opening up my strides I get out of breath real quick and I cant hold it for long. Any advice on what I can do to open up my strides?

Hey guys..

So I recently started running again after a long hiatus. Surprisingly, my body got used to it very quickly. But, I am worried about the cold weather coming up. Whenever I run in the cold, my legs/thighs become INCREDIBLY itchy. I know it is because of the warmth of my body+the cold outside, but how do you guys deal with that?! It pisses me off because sometimes I have to cut my workout short because I cannot deal with the itch. I am going to try and join a gym if I can, but I might not have enough $ for that as of now.

Please give me some ideas, seasoned runners!!

THANK YOU!!!

I'm planning on joining USMC in a few months and I have all the physical requirements down except for the 3 mile run. I'm sure I could get the time, I just have trouble running farther than a mile. Any suggestions?

I started running long distances races this year and had horrible plantar fasciitis to the point where I couldnt walk after races or for 5 days after a race. I kept it going and found that walking and a slight job would make it easier to use that foot. I never stopped training, adopted some different stretching techniques and have gone about 3 months without an injury. I would get it after runs longer than 5 miles, now I run 16 miles pain free, are my feet and muscles used to it now?

I like Nike for the fit but they are heavy. Adias is light but they fall apart faster than Nike. I'm looking to try a new shoe. I run about 25-30 miles per week.
