i started walking recently and i am now doing 1.5 miles in 30 min. i was going to start going up to 2 miles and then get my time low again. i wanted to eventually start running. so should i keep walking till i get a certian amount of miles in a certain amount of time or should i start to run half a mile and then walk half a mile? i am just doing this to be healthy and get some motion as i sit all day at work. any suggestions would be helpful.

For the reason you stated, it's not necessary to be so structured in your workout routine, letting it be more fun and enjoyable as a way of life (a journey rather than a destination).

Personally, I'd suggest you set aside an hour a day for walking, even if it's slower than your 1.5 mile days. The reason is that the body doesn't begin to burn fat as primary fuel until about 30 minutes of aerobic exercise. Don't concentrate on speed either. Once you feel comfortable, you can always insert short periods of running into your routine.

The big factor here is consistency and keeping it enjoyable.

Good Luck

PS. Ditto about the shoes.

No recurring is the final recurring, change workouts and order of workouts often. i might start up of with cycle guidance to boost well being and practice your physique for some greater heavy projects. you ought to later pick weights for workouts so as which you will't do greater advantageous than 10 new launch and 3 instruments. You do a pause of 5 minutes between each and each set. it particularly is crucial which you do as many new launch as you ought to interior the final set. in case you're able to do greater advantageous than 12 interior the final set boost weight next time you do this workouts.

you just do what makes you feel good. running and walking are the exact same end result, only walking takes longer. You only need to do what you feel comfortable doing, and what is, for lack of a better word, "fun". If it's not fun, then it's a chore and you start to find excuses to do otherwise. you're doing great!!! If you feel like running, be sure and buy really good running shoes that YOU can run in. It's worth the money to go to a "runner's store" somewhere near you and have a free analysis done on your running style, stride, stance, etc. They put these electrodes in your shoes, and put you on a treadmill all the while video taping your stride. they can find THE shoes for you to run in. Believe me, don't cheap out on running shoes, you'll pay for it in the long run with knee replacement surgery.
