If i can bike about 12 miles at an almost completely steady pace of 10mph up and down hills. But i cant even do 1 mile running. Its not that my legs get tired, i just run out of breathe. But biking this doesnt happen unless i try to go really fast. Im 16, no diseases and such. Is this normal?

I read somebody saying that Nike Shox sucked because they have too much cushion... but how is that bad in a running shoe.. wouldn't you want a lot of "shock" to absorm the impact? I know I would.. I currently have shinsplints in my left leg, and achilles tendinitis in my right heel.... I think cushion is a might fine idea.. lol

I have started running not too long agao and I have shin splints (mild pain). I think I overpronate. I also have arches that are more on the flatter side.

Should I buy running shoes that have cushioned heels (ex: Nike Shox Turbo V style)??? Or should I look for other features?

I've been off and on excercizing for the last 10 months... but I'm 19 years old and want to step it up to get in superb shape for the army, and one day the CIA...

seeing as how I'm not a runner, I'm going to start off doing a beginners schedule of only three times a week, and its a "walk-to-run" program ... but when I get some footmiles under my belt... how should I arrange these excercizes on a weekly schedule.. should I give myself any time to rest or what... please help lol

Just for a few seconds. I have done this a few times and for some reason it feels great. I wish I could run for long distances with my eyes closed, but I know it's not safe. It seems like it's a close to flying as one can get. What do you think?

After years of swimming, I'm trying to start myself on a running program because I don't have any pool access. I've always avoided running like the plague and I know my form is completely off. Can someone give me some tips to correct it?

Also, I get winded which I find strange since I could swim for hours without any breathing problems.

Are there any runners or better yet, swimmers turned runners who can help me do this right?

plus, my left foot has been hurting for around 5 days and it still hurts if I walk a lot, does this mean i need more rest?

My Achilles tendons have been burning me since late September (it wasn't severe, but enough to annoy) and I took out of training for 10 days.
I even changed my sleeping habits by keeping my legs elevated at 2" and icing the tendons a 3 -5 am in the fact that there is no other time to ice my legs.

Yesterday, I ran a really tough hill course (Mt. Sac) at a really SLOW time so as to not agitate the tendons.
The pain seemed to have subsided but moved to my shins.

Is the tendon problem gone? Or could the problem be much worse?

25 yo. Ok, I have started running recently; I'm a beginner. I run on average 2-3 times/week for about 2 miles or 30 min. I'm doing pretty good and not having any pain, but I notice that I can her some weird noises in my left knee. No pain at all and only in left knee but when ever it bends, particularly if my weight is on it, I hear what sounds almost like knee creaking or like the faint sound of knuckes being cracked. Its very faint and its not a popping noise, but very faint when there's motion in that knee. Has anyone else experienced this or maybe know what it is?

(It will be in Northeast Ohio)
