Swimming...no impact.

Swim or do a workout in the gym using the weight machines. Continue to be active and you'll be okay.

The way to correct Shin splints is to strengthen the muscles at the front of the legs. Lie face down in bed with your toes hanging over the edge. Pull your toes upward against the resistance of the mattress. Try to work up to 3 or 4 sets of 5 – 10 reps each.

Good Luck

Swimming is a good idea, from the other answerer.
Also, try and run cross country. It makes the load on the legs much less. But you DO HAVE to lessen the volume a little bit. Otherwise it might get worse and then you will not be ABLE to run at all! Focus on style and technique as well as that will help.

Shin splints shouldn't stop you. Stress fractures should.

Swim or walk long distance. Use an elastic band to work your shins.

Avoid running on hard things like the road.
