This sounds weird but works unbelievably well. Get a needle and cotton and next time you have a blister thread the cotton thru, cut, and tie it. It drains the blister away without ripping your skin and should make it far less painful. Remove cotton after about 24 hours.

I would say about 1 week, and they hurt so bad.

But more importantly you should not get blisters while running. The problem is in your shoes, something is not fitting right. You probably need new running shoes in a larger size. As you run your foot swells up to as much as 1 or 1.5 sizes larger. And since one persons size 9.5 is another persons size 10, you need to make sure that you get properly fitted for your shoes. Don't go to Walmart or Sports authority for your shoes, go to a store that specializes in running shoes, they have experts that will measure your foot, and arches to get you the proper fit. Plus the cost at the specialty stores is pretty much the same as a department store. If you have an injury like a blister you begin to step your foot incorrectly to avoid pain and that could cause injury to your ankle/knee or hip.
Basically your body is giving you a warning that something is wrong, address it quickly before a blister becomes something more serious.

YOur previous answers are good and correct, but I found that blisters were a phase for me. It lasted about a year.

1. Wear thin socks turned inside out
2. Lather up your feet with vaseline before you run

You should have a minimum of a thumb width between your longest toe and the front end of the shoe when standing with all your weight on one foot. If you have less, then get new shoes.

Good Luck

Everybody's body is different. Could take a week or two. Get some good socks or better shoes. You shouldn't have blisters after only running three miles.
