once you start running again, will you perform better because you're more rested or will it be harder to run?

plus, my left foot has been hurting for around 5 days and it still hurts if I walk a lot, does this mean i need more rest?

It's usually better to at least go for a slow jog or do something than to take a couple days off. However, if your foot is hurting, go to a doctor or trainer or somebody who can see if something is wrong. The last thing you want to do is run on an injured foot because it will just make it worse if it's really injured. If your foot is injured, make sure you wait until it's completely healed before starting up again, because if you start up too soon after an injury, it might come back. Finally, try riding a bike or do something that would keep you off your foot while keeping you in shape. Also, putting ice on your foot may help out.

That left foot hurting could be tindinitis(which is tendons or the channel they run through getting irritated through too much use or not enough use). It may need rest or strengthening or both. Try taking a couple of weeks off. Do some other kind of exercise that doesn't put stress on the foot. Then slowly work back into it. You may try exercises to stretch or strengthen that area to supplement your running. Maybe Google or something would be a good place to look for such a thing. Or you could see a podiatrist and they could recommend something.

You will not lose your conditioning in 2 days.
You may perform better because you are rested.

How does your foot hurt? Does it hurt all of the time or just when you walk or run?

Did you do something to it or did it just start hurting when you were running?

If it hurts a lot then you probably need to see a doctor.

I've ran About 5 miles almost everyday for a year now, and when i don't run for 2 days straight i feel really bad, and while it feels good to run again, i feel out of shape, so i'd say no. It's fine to rest and feel rested but you won't go faster, it just depends on your stamina and strength.

As for your foot it sounds pretty bad! Keep resting for a while but if it keeps hurting you really should see a Doctor for more invoice, good luck!

Once you're conditioned, rest is as important as working out.

So treasure your off days and feed your body. Running beats the heII out of it so nourish yourself with good foods, water, and rest.

Check your shoes. Time for new ones? I ran in worn out shoes thrity years ago and can feel it today sometimes so watch yourself. Shoes are waaaay cheaper than doctors.

But if that injury doesn't come around you might want to get it looked at. You'll need and orthopedic doctor.

Listen to your body, if your foot hurts then it is telling you something, see a doctor or PT.
