What if my parents don't like it and it's a little difficult for me to make all the practices?

Why would your parents not like it? I don't know what's wrong with them if they are discouraging you from having fun and participating in physical activities.

Yes, you should start training, because even if you are not good, but you like it, when you train you can become better.

I joined cross country and couldn't even run a mile, but then by the end of the week I could run almost 3 miles without stopping (in the morning, that is) and now I can run 4 miles in the morning without stopping, so I improved majorly in a short period of time..so can you. I even dropped 1 jean size (I'm not heavy) But there was one girl on my team that was kindof heavy, and she said she lost 5 sizes.

My point is, yes, you start training because you'll get better, you'll get mentally prepared, and you might loose a size or two BEFORE it starts.

P.S. Don't listen to that guy joshua above me, no one's going to talk about you. At least you're working on it. Athletes are usually very nice about slow people. I've only had a few mean ones like that on my teams, and I've been on teams since 1st grade of all kinds of sports.

Of course you should. Who cares if your parents dont like it, theyre not the ones training. Who cares if your not good at it? Its about what you like to do, good at it or not. I am a terrible athlete, but it doesnt stop me from doing sports and enjoying myself. And the more you train the better you will get. just be dedicated and try to make it to all the practices you can, give it your best, and listen to your coaches. in the end, you will be glad you did and it will give you a life long good habit of exercise and being active. such things improve more than just your physical health, it also helps mental function, general well being and is a great way to meet new people. Go for it!

When I training triathletes I had a very large woman say she wanted to try it. Her family and friends laughed at her and said she was too out of shape, too fat etc. I gave her a slow training schedule. Within 4 months she completed her one and only triathlon. No she didn't win, but she did finish!! It was all mind set. She wanted it and therefore she did it. Napoleon Hill once said, Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, you can achieve!!!

Start slow and work with a coach or training specialist...see you doctor before starting anything strenuous! And happy running!

PS I was the USMC track and field trainer for 5 years

If you like Track start training, why not? Maybe your Track coach could help you with a running plan.

If you wanna do track, then you should start practicing now. Then you'll be used to running all the time in practice and you'd probably be better than other people because you started earlier.

I was a marine! Listen, go for a run everyday SERIOUSLY, everyday, and increase your distance by 6 minutes or a mile each week until you get up to 8 miles (or your desired distance). Plz use your IPOD as you will need some type of motivation while running. By doing this, I can guarentee thaT NO ONE IN SCHOOL will be able to come close, Can you say scholarship!

C'mon. If you want to do it go for it!!!

You always have to start somewhere and you'll build up. Everyone trains for running.

It's really up to you. If you want to train for track then do it since you like it. If you're not going to commit to it or don't want to put in the practice stay away from it.

Goodluck!!!

My own high school track career was rather uninspiring. But that track experience led directly to my daughter becoming a star 300 meter hurdler.
