Two questions. In my leg I believe it is the gastrocnemius muscle, or Soleus muscle? I stretched before I went for a run, and it ached. As I ran it dissappered. The thing is though when I don't run it flares up again. Anyone have this happen before? Also a second question is when running on the treadmill does your shins hurt more than when you run on the pavement? Thanks.

Well I have to run a mile in 12 minutes no more for pe (at private school) a few times a week and everytime I run it I feel very dead tired and make it in almost 5 seconds. If I go past 12 minutes I get an F. The track is 1/4 of a mile per lap so I have to run 4 laps to make the mile. I am not in really in good shape How can I make myself less tired when I run and make it in a little quicker?

Dont get me wrong and think im racist or something, but i heard that the reason that most sprinters/football players etc. are african american is because they have developed a different muscle in their leg than other races. is this true?

I used to do cross country running in middle school and high school, but we did it on the field... 3+ miles were a joke for me, but now out of school I have a big problem with jogging for cardio on my treadmill or even out in the street. I've tried my best to land my foot better, but have had no luck. So what do you guys do to overcome the problem?

While I run I don't run nearly as good as I could. During the race I tell myself that I suck and theres along ways to go so I phsyce myself out. What should I do during the race to keep good thoughts? So I can run as well as my body can run.

My left shin has been hurting for 7 weeks now, starting as a small ache in the beginning of cross country season. But now, it hurts like crazy, even if I'm only walking. The pain is so bad, that I'm limping half of the time, or walking on my tiptoes on my left foot, because it hurts more to put my whole weight on it. Running and jumping are especially worse, and even if it gets better while I continue to run, it becomes excruiciatingly painful when I stop. Is there anything I can do to help ease the pain?

My goal is about 16 minutes. i have until next fall to do this. thanks for the help everyone!
