That really all depends on what you do. If you're purely talking about running, your legs will become more defined. Runners builds are more sleek. However, if your coach also has you doing strength exercises then you may gain muscle and, as a result, your legs may get a bit bigger. What is important to remember is that "bigger" in this case is NOT a synonym for "fatter". You'll be a healthier you, and that's always a good thing. Muscles aren't a bad thing. Having toned legs from running is a good thing. Now, if you're doing any field events, your legs will most likely get a bit bigger. They all require good jumping power from your lower body. I did Indoor Track every year, and I don't regret the shape it got me in. Remember, "bigger" is NOT "fatter".

After a season of indoor track, you'll trade some fat on your legs for muscle and/or tone. How much depends mostly on your current condition.

Others are right: if you want bulk, you have to hit the weights hard. More muscle means more power (better acceleration) and sometimes more speed. But you also have to carry that extra weight around the track. That's probably not what you want if you're racing the mile or 2-mile.

That's why sprinters useheavier weights, distance runners emphasize reps, and middle distance runners split the difference.

I don't think it really matters. Cross Country or Indoor Track, it all depends on your work out. If you weight train your legs, your muscles will get stronger. Which helps for track. So no, they won't. Like I said, it depends on your workout.

Indoor Track is the same as any other season. your legs may become more toned from the running, but you won't bulk up unless you do weight training...
