Hey guys..

So I recently started running again after a long hiatus. Surprisingly, my body got used to it very quickly. But, I am worried about the cold weather coming up. Whenever I run in the cold, my legs/thighs become INCREDIBLY itchy. I know it is because of the warmth of my body+the cold outside, but how do you guys deal with that?! It pisses me off because sometimes I have to cut my workout short because I cannot deal with the itch. I am going to try and join a gym if I can, but I might not have enough $ for that as of now.

Please give me some ideas, seasoned runners!!

THANK YOU!!!

not too cold...i live in jersey so the coldest it gets for the most part is maybe the 20s..

I usually just wear stretchy work out/yoga type pants because they are the most comfortable. Maybe i should get some more sweatpants...

Once it got too cold to run in shorts, I would run in tights for continuous runs When it got REALLY cold, I would keep the tights on and wear a pair of sprint pants over them.
Finding the most comfortable material can be tricky. I never liked running in cotton tights, so I wore spandex or lycra type tights. I had teammates who preferred the cotton.
I think the material close to your legs helps wick away the sweat better than looser pants.

Road Runner Sports and National Running Center have a variety of long pants to sell on line, at good prices. The selection covers all sorts of temperatures, and sales come up every so often. I'd give those a try first.

I leave in Pittsburgh so the only time I run when its cold enought to wear a fleece or hoody outside. I mean I still dress appropriately for cold weather but the point im saying is that running in cold weather is good b/c its better to breathe in the air when the air feels fresher.

could be the workout clothes but also try stretching at intervals becuase your muscles become very tight when its cold and when i stretch the itchy feeling you describe usually is lessoned but if your talking about long runs without intervals best bet is to hit the treadmill. good luck.

i run in the winter also, and the itching is annoying, wear sweats, and a sweater, u might be sweating a lot but it helps, and prevents u from pulling muscles. good luck!! :)
