How do you other Christians deal with temptation?
I sometimes feel like giving up because I try so hard to be sinless and be a really good Christian and I keep forgetting about Christ's forgiveness, is there anything I can do or pray to show to prove to God that I want to be his child forever?

I think that conjures up quite an image, does anyone else have a saying that makes you smile when you picture it/? I remember the smile on my face when I first heard (the great) Alan Partridge use the term `Monkey Tennis`.

and every one of them had their particular ethnic or cultural group as the group that was created, doesn't that tell you something?

In the Greek stories, the Gods created the Greek people, not the Jewish people. In the Egyptian stories, the God(s) created the Egyptian people, not the Scandinavian people.

I'm not Jewish, so it would be silly for me to accept their version at face value, especially since my own ancestors had a story that had our group as the center of Creation.

And I also understand that these things are just cultural manifestations and not literal truth.

No one ever wrote a creation story where they claimed that 'Those people over there are the ones the God(s) created and well, we just suck!"

So what possible reason would I have for taking the Hebrew books literally, and making myself into a descendant of Hebrew tribes, when I know that I'm not, and a simple DNA test can prove it.

In an effort to convert me (from the "death trap" that is Buddhism), a Christian sent me this prayer (to say out loud).

How common is this type of prayer amongst the Christians who visit this site?

Sorry, but I found the emphasis on bathing in blood (yes, I know it is symbolic!) rather disturbing.

SPIRITUAL WARFARE PRAYER AGAINST SATAN (THE DEVIL)

SATAN, IN THE NAME OF JESUS, I COMMAND YOU TO LEAVE MY MIND, BODY, LIFE, AND SOUL TODAY IN THE NAME OF JESUS!
YOU HAVE NO DOMINION OVER MY LIFE!
I SUBMIT MY BODY, LIFE, AND SOUL TO GOD, IN THE NAME OF JESUS!
THE BLOOD OF JESUS! THE BLOOD OF JESUS! THE BLOOD OF JESUS AGAINST YOU SATAN!
I APPLY THE BLOOD OF JESUS OVER MY LIFE!
I APPLY THE BLOOD OF JESUS OVER WHERE I LIVE AT!
I APPLY THE BLOOD OF JESUS OVER MY FAMILY!
I DO IT ALL IN THE NAME OF JESUS
THE BLOOD OF JESUS! THE BLOOD OF JESUS! THE BLOOD OF JESUS AGAINST YOU SATAN! IN JESUS NAME I CALL IT DONE! AMEN AND AMEN!

I am a religious person but I am starting to have doubts.
The evolution was critized by The Religious as been false. Well scientists now have the proof that humanity has been on earth for several millions years not thousand years. Religion might have been invented to prevent the poors getting revolted against the rich of this world and this for thousand years. Look around you now , Hollywood stars bying millions $ rings , millions houses, asking for millions dollars to play a role , eating in expensive restaurants while 90% of the population is waiting for their paycheck to pay the bills. Most people are underpaid!! And yes in the movie "Wall Street" Michael Douglas made a remark: Religion is what prevent all these poo people to commit suicide. Hope of a better after live while the rich are enjoying their time in this present life without taking the chance of been wrong!! Now I am told that the middle classes are gone and we are back to the middle ages time!! With the poor and the ric

I go to a Non-denominational Bible Church in Wisconsin that believes in Eternal Security and Evangelism. We also believe woman should wear dresses, have long hair, and home school their children. The men must have short hair, and finally the families may not celebrate Christmas or Easter.

Are there any folks out there that still hold by *any of these* Biblical principles??

I mean I'm sure crucifixion was the opposite of fun, but there are lots of worse and much more drawn out ways to suffer. And apart from people saying they didn't believe in him, what other suffering did the guy go through before being given this brilliant eternity?

Flippantly worded perhaps, but serious question.

The ritual sacrifice of the first born son (a common Mediterranean theme), the eating of his flesh and the drinking of his blood (also common themes, especially among cannibalistic tribes like the Aztecs and Incas).

Whether symbolic or not, the basic logic of the story is stating that these barbaric people had it right.

And they're all happy of that. How can it be? Doesn't make my sense, christian marriage is monogamous.

God gives us free will but then says we have to Give up all worldly things and spend our lives in devotion to him. Doesnt he have the angels for this? saying that i would like to ask you this....Did God look upon his angels and say to himself "I wonder if i took away all their powers, their wings, threw them onto a planet and never spoke directly to them again would they still worship me?" Does this make us all weaker versions of angels seperated from God in some experiement of faith?

The evolutionists say that people are primates but all primates are not people. at what point do primates become people, or as they way we are a branch of primates, where is the branching off place the we can say "this primate became human"?? You can't just take two different things and say they are the same but different??
There must be some series of events or documented changes or even now living beings that are evolving into human intelligence??

would stop disliking Christians if we weren't so damn judgemental all the time about EVERYTHING. My faith is supposed to be kind & caring but yet they tell anyone who has a different opinion that they're wrong. I never see Jews on here judging people & although I don't know much about Muslims, I don't see them on here telling people that if they don't believe in Allah, we'll burn. Why are they like that & would it help other religions to think more of us if we just shut up?

SECRET courts imposing draconian Islamic justice are operating across Britain.
Last night politicians and religious leaders expressed outrage that sharia law is gaining an increasing foothold in our society.
The hardline Islamic law allows people to be stoned to death, beheaded or have their limbs amputated.
And legal experts warned that it meant the authority of British justice was being undermined. Sharia law dates back to the 10th century.
