God gives us free will to EITHER be devoted to Him OR to not be. We have the choice. We can do what we want. Once we accept His challenge, however, we must follow His rules. Angels are used as messengers of God, protectors, etc. We are a step lower than angels. But God loves us and doesnt want to see us perish, but the choice is ours.

No we are not a weaker version of angels. And yes the angels would still worship because of the lack of free will. Devoting our lives to God by choice gives God much more pleasure than having an angel worship him because of duty. On the other hand giving our lives to him is also in our best interest.
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Many people misquote this verse and assume that if they are Christians everything will work out no matter what they do. What this verse is really saying is if you follow God's purpose for your life everything will work out for your best interest as well as God's.
As far as how we compare to angels. God did give all the angels a choice. They do not have a blanket free will as we do but the angels could choose to follow Satan or God. Those that follow Satan will end up in the lake of fire. No chance of redemption. But when mankind gave into Satan God sent his only Son to die a horrific death so that we could have a chance to once again have unlimited access to him. If you read Genesis you find that God spoke and walked with mankind. Yet we continued to become more and more evil. That is another subject entirely though. Point is God sacrificed a part of himself for our sakes while the angels were given no escape clause for their sin.

"God gives us free will but then says we have to Give up all worldly things and spend our lives in devotion to him."
I don't think He calls us to give up all worldly things as much as He calls us to give up all worldly things that get in the way of a relationship between us and Him or others.
"Doesnt he have the angels for this?"
Yes, but that doesn't mean that He can't have more than just angels for this.
"and never spoke directly to them again"
First, I disagree with the assumption that God will never speak to us again. Maybe not this side of death, but I do believe He will speak to us directly again at some point. Second, even without Him speaking to us directly here and now, I can still see His touch in the beauty of this world and hear His voice as it comes to me from the bible.
"Does this make us all weaker versions of angels seperated from God in some experiement of faith?"
I really couldn't tell you what angels really are, and without some sort of referent, there's no way to know how they relate to us. Perhaps they were creatures on some previous planet(s) that faced its/their own final judgment?
But I think we are more than just an experiment; rather God really loves us.

ahhh, Dis Dain.... Giving up worldly things is more within the mind and heart then in literally doing....MOST of the time anyway, lol, let's face it....we humans sometimes need the proverbial hit in the head before we "understand" some things!
It would be awesome to me if I could consider myself an angel from Heaven...
....having said that, excuse me a moment while I put the earplugs in to mute the laughter by everyone whom knows I'm NOT an "angel".....
...but then again, Satan IS one, so, being an angel loses some appeal....
The Bible states that this planet is where God made man IN HIS IMAGE....I assume therefore that we are the only planet that IS...and...I have no clue what angels actually look like...they historically APPEAR to be in the form that we are, but, they may appear to be in the form of other living beings within our vast galaxy too....
Satan was allowed to be on other planets, but, God made rules for Satan when in regards to Earth...once the favorite, denied nothing, it was a bitter pill when God preferred His Son Jesus and the pitiful creatures on Earth over Satan/Lucifer....
Experiment? no....don't think so.....but, as I have mentioned before in other "answers", I DO believe Satan is playing his own form of "wizard's chess" like they play in the Potter books/movies....
....and he wants to WIN...
...checkmate...your turn....

We are not an " experiment of faith."
We are mere mortals now, but before the "Fall" we were Immortals.
Before the Fall of Man in Eden, humans were unable to die; they had photographic memory, vast intelligence, the ability to run faster than lighting can travel and ect.
So with that being the case, it is easy to understand that we are totally different from angels.
Satan is speaking through you Dis Dain to encourage and plant doubt in the minds of Christians so they will think of God as unjust and turn away from him.
May you see your error and seek God's forgiveness.

I have no idea if that's how it works, but I do know that we are lower than angels on the "ladder" lol. "For we see Jesus, made lower than angels, to...." which clearly shows we are lesser creatures than angels.
I think you'd have to add in that God created new angels without powers, wings, etc ... as we were never angels in the first place.

God is our father and he wants us to be hapy..He knows you wont be happy if you are on the wrong tracks. ok look at a mother child relationship. A mother says dont touch a lightbulb. the child has a chice whether to touch it or not...if he does he will get hurt but if he listens he will remain safe. (same concept as with God...just more important things to obey!!) he gave us free will because he loves us. he created humans not robots. he wants to bless us and give us all the desires of our hearts

You are taking what Jesus said to specific people out of context. He did not make giving up posessions a command to everyone. Realize that faith grows. We don't receive a megadose of faith all at once. If the Spirit of truth reveals something to you, you need to demonstrate that you understand it by applying it constructively in your life before you will be given more.

There is a part of human existence that is in the image of God...spirit. That spirit yearns to return to the source. It is not about God's attitude...it is about yours.
