I go to a Non-denominational Bible Church in Wisconsin that believes in Eternal Security and Evangelism. We also believe woman should wear dresses, have long hair, and home school their children. The men must have short hair, and finally the families may not celebrate Christmas or Easter.

Are there any folks out there that still hold by *any of these* Biblical principles??

I am a true Christian,
however:

2. There Is Not One Verse in the Bible That Says Jesus Had Long Hair...That's a Catholic Myth

3. Before you all go flapping your mouth about "legalism"...go study out the subjects she stated so you sound a little more logical.

4. For all you who keep posting things on here about how she shouldn't "judge"...stop "judging" her..hypocrites!

5. She Is not judging anyone..she just asked a simple question!

6. Instead of gabbing away about men and woman's hair...read the chapter she put on here about the topic...you will see that she's right

7. The Bible says Jesus rose after three days and three nights...where do you get three days and three nights from "Good Friday" to "Easter Sunday"...and where did that name "Easter" come from?? Easter is the name of the pagan goddess of fertility!

8. December 25th. is actually the birthday of the pagan god Zeus...Catholic Ruler Constantine wanted the pagans and the Christians to get along, so he put a Christian name on a pagan holiday, so that they would celebrate (a lie) together. For many years, when this country was founded, Christmas was illegal!

9. Read up on when and why woman started wearing pants...it was because of the feminist movement "No Gods, No Masters"! People understood that pants were men's clothing. Less than 100yrs. ago, woman weren't allowed to wear pants (they would be kicked out of school and church for it...even arrested)!

10. And lastly...God commanded us to go into the entire world and preach the gospel...even to the remotest parts of the earth!

I agree with the fact that women should have hair. As the Bible says "A woman’s hair is her glory.

But there is nothing wrong with a man having long hair if he so desires. Remember Samson's strength was not in his hair; yet it was long. And John the Baptist had long hair to.

Women should dress modestly according to the Bible, but it did not say they have to wear a certain kind of dress either.

I have nothing against women or girls wearing jeans (not to church of course) or being members of the military, women should have the same rights as men, perhaps more as they are the only means of continuing the human race.

But I agree that colleges, schools and the government should enforce dress codes and other moral restraints in our falling society.


I don't believe in Easter as it is a pagan and unholy holiday and the same goes for Halloween.

The Bible does not say to keep or not observe Christmas and my family does observes Christmas and personally I feel Christmas, Thanksgiving Day, Mother's Day, Fathers Day and Oriental holidays are wonderful events.

Deut 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.

1 Cor 11:5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
11:6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

Well, the first verse seems to be saying more about the evils of cross-dressing than anything else. And the stuff about hair would seem to be saying women should either shave their heads or wear a hat or shawl.

I'd also draw your attention to Luke on the subject of dress:

12:22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
12:23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.

That sounds pretty "Christian" to me - the inner spirit is more important than the outer appearance...also shows you just how impossible it is to be an absolute Bible literalist, doesn't it?

I agree with her 100%. She is not saying that you are going to hell for not doing these things..she was just wondering if there are any more real christians out there that hold be these principles. You guys should start reading your Bible and stop acting like "You Know It All" ...read into it...is it possible that maybe she's right?? The Bible is very clear about these principals! I am a born-again Christian by the way!

A couple of things. Deuteronomy simply commands that men and women dress dissimilarly, there is nothing about dresses and trousers. If all the women in your church wore trousers and you wore a dress you would be fine. The notion that a dress is woman's clothing is cultural. See Scotland, Greece and India for cultural counter examples. Indeed, the "dress" per se is a western European invention. So my first question to you is "What did ancient jewish men and women actually wear?"

Second, Corinthians does not say how long hair must be for it to be "long." So this is the question you must answer: How long did Jesus wear his hair?

Yeah, I know your churches. It's churches like that that would not allow the hippies of the 60s anywhere to listen to the gospel--they were turned away at the door because of their long hair and clothing.
The non-denom church that I go to, allowed EVERYONE to come in and hear the Word of God.

Men to have short hair , Didn't Jesus himself have long hair??? And doesn't the Bible say that a woman must look like a woman and not a man? Well I have a pair of hot pink jeans , Do you think they are Manly ?????? FREEDOM IN CHRIST that is what my Non denom Church preaches We love all and don't have a set dress code . Come as you are!!!!

yes there is i know like my Former church the women have long hair and men have short hair,if men grow their hair longer we hve been advice to get a haircut''im not against w/ this because it is Biblicaly written''this is a proper attire i guess and its formal educated way to worship''and we dont celebrate christmas and easter. God is concerned with your heart, first and foremost.

What would you do if a homeless, dirty, smelly, bearded and ragged man asked YOU how to become saved? Would you tell him to go and clean up first? Would you turn him away?

Read the REST of 1 Corinthians!

1Cr 11:16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

When you put yourselves in the place of "rule makers" for others, you are playing with fire. Please be careful.

However, I do agree with you in terms of modesty. I am teaching my daughter to dress modestly. I am teaching my son to respect others and himself. To dress and behave in a way that shines Christ. To be ready to give an answer to anyone that asks about the hope you have!
