Obviously some of you are deceiving yourselves.

Why does this not trouble you?

It does trouble some of us,myself included....I pray quite often that I am not deceiving my own self. The scriptures that you quoted on an earlier post from Matthew are ones that I consider on a daily basis.

Thank you

I like the way you think!
Claiming to be a Christian is NOT the same as being one.

Some folks put on the name Christian or Baptist or Catholic or Muslim the same way they put on a shirt.
They wear it for others to see and to hide what's really underneath.

But God alone knows the heart.
And it's not what name you call yourself that "gets you into Heaven", but who's Name you've trusted in that gains you entrance.

And that Name is Jesus Christ alone.
I recall something mentioned about this in Acts 4:12.

Because the ones making the claim are Christians. Wouldn't it sound even stranger to you if the Christian church taught that only Muslims were going to heaven ? Or if the Muslim religion preached that the only ones going to heaven are Jews ?

The problem is that we have broken God's Law. There is only one thing a Just Judge can do in this case: punish the evildoer. To see if you have broken God's Laws, look at the Ten Commandments:

Is God first in all your ways? (First Commandment)

Is your god acceptable to you, or is He Holy beyond compare? (Second Commandment)

Have you ever used God's name in vain? (Third Commandment)

Have you faithful taken the time to give God one day in seven? (Fourth Commandment)

Have you ever disobeyed or embarrassed your parents? (Fifth Commandment)

Have you ever hated anyone? The Bible says that if you hate someone (including calling names or otherwise mistreating other people), God will deal with you as a murderer (Matthew 5:21-22 and 1 John 3:15; Sixth Commandment)

Have you ever stolen anything (candy, pencils, anything no matter the value)? (Seventh Commandment)

Have you ever committed adultery? Or looked with lust? Jesus said that if you look with lust, you are committing adultery in your heart. So porn, erotic literature, gazing at the beach, etc. makes you an adulterer (Eight Commandment).

Have you ever told a lie (white lie, fib, exaggeration)? (Ninth Commandment)

Have you ever desired something that didn't belong to you? (Tenth Commandment)

If you have done any of these things, and I have done all of them, then you will be guilty on Judgment Day, and Justice demands that you go to Hell.

But because God loves us so much, He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty that we owe God for breaking His Laws. We broke the Law, but Jesus paid our fine. Now, if we repent of our sins, God will give us eternal life based on Jesus' perfection, rather than eternal Justice, based on our record, on Judgment Day.

Only God knows our hearts. He is Righteous, I trust that He will make the right decision.

Your decision is between YOU and GOD> No one else knows what is really going on.

No, this does not trouble me because His Word is the same for everyone. No one else can make this decision on your behalf. If you do not make it, you did not choose heaven and the instructions. Jesus is the way. It is through His righteousness that we are saved, His mercy and His grace. How hard it is to accept it.

Everyone wants to believe they are right. And everyone wants to believe they are better than someone else.
Dogmatism is growing like crazy in the world today, I know many people who have never read an entire book of the Bible but will argue about it for hours.

It does trouble me.

A Christian's goal is not to get to heaven. That is something a secular, egocentric person might conclude. Christians don't compete to "make it" to heaven.

Christians seek a relationship with God right now. They intend to continue that relationship, and that relationship alone assures them that it will continue.

Christians are motivated or driven by:

A complete love of God with all of their heart, mind, soul, and strength,
A love others as they love themselves, and finally
A love of one-another as Jesus loved them.

Christians do not consider that their relationship with God will cease. It's not a competition as much as a "blessed assurance."

What assurance do you have? Would you like to have that kind of peace in your soul? You can. You will, however, lose your desire to taunt others and will instead become interested in serving others first.

I urge you to attend a church or to develop a relationship with someone who you can see has the assurance I just described. Your life will become more fulfilling and meaningful. God bless you my friend.

That's why we are told to be humble and pray without ceasing.

When we cease to have the servant's attitude, we open the door to our own destruction.

Jesus was plain when he spoke of "remove the plank from your own eye".

When we condemn others, we cause judgment to be heaped upon ourselves. This does not mean we can't point out behavior that is wrong, but we can't judge the sinner. It's not our job.

I wish more Christians knew that.

I would say that Flaccid is on the right path , But !! Jctheblo
will lead you straight to " HELL " he himself just confessed
that Mormon's do not think that Jesus Blood Sacrifice was
good enough for God to take away our sins . So the Mormons obviously came up with their own doctrine and
putting their faith in their own self righteousness . They are
as Jesus said , Wolfs in Sheep's Clothing !! Jesus explicitly
told us all in Revelation that NO ONE IS TO ADD OR TAKE
AWAY FROM THE WORD OF GOD THAT WAS GIVEN
TO US BY GOD . Mormons evidently also have doubts of
God Sovereignty and the inerrant Word of God since they
went ahead and made up their own so called bible book
which is in direct rebellion of God . So be carefull out in this
Fallen World of the Blind . It is all by God Grace that we are
saved and we can do nothing for it . Jesus said , I tell you
unless you become Born Again in the Spirit no one will enter
the Kingdom of God. Who ever has seen Me has seen the
Father and no one will see the Father unless that he comes
through Me . To know Jesus is to know true love and when
you really love Him you will do anything that He ask of you
because ,you love Him and the truth is in you . Then you will
be obedient to Him (which is so easy when you come to
know Him ) because it is the right way to be . You are right
about that ,there are many , many people who call them selfs
christians and doers of Gods Word but , really have no
idea of who Jesus & God the Father is at all !!! they are not
in pursuit of the truth but , only out for their own kingdom which
will be Hell in the end . Jesus also said, at their day of
judgement , they will come saying lord , lord , I did this for you , we cast out demons for your name sake , i served the church for you all these years ,etc.,etc., etc. and Jesus told them that , I never knew you , you did all your wonders & miracles for your own sake .Away with you and they were cast into a deeper Hell for hearing the Gospel but rejecting it . I could keep going on but ,I will leave you and all with this . Even Paul was not sure of His own salvation until the very end of His life when he says,I have fought the good fight and persevered until the end , I have
finished the race , my salvation is now at hand . He was taken
from this life days later . If a Gospel Giant like Paul was
unsure until the end , We as true Christains must be checking
our hearts with out ceasing(remember our hearts are always
trying to decieve us) and that is why we must have complete dependence on Our Lord in all that we do.Becoming sanctified and Holy ,so that one day we will be able to stand in heaven with our Holy Father, Amen............

For a Christian they stand on the word of God. The word promise eternal life in heaven with God if we believe. That is our hope and our salvation through Christ. Without Jesus we are condemn already. Without God we are lost as the unsaved.

John 3:16 KJV
(16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Ephesians 2:4-6 KJV
(4) But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
(5) Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
(6) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Romans 5:8-11 KJV
(8) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
(9) Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
(10) For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
(11) And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
