...which seems more 'scientifically logical': (A) The universe as we know it just happened out of nothing, or (B) a Creator by intelligent design set things in motion?

Science does not and has never contradicted God. It just seems funny how some people on here try to augue that intelligence moves people away from the belief in God, when some of the most intelligent minds we've know come to the conclusion- that 'intelligent design' is the only answer for our universe.

Fear, arrogance, delusion and a dozen or more reasons move people away from God...not knowledge. How could it?

would the world or even christians belive today if a man came out and said he was christ returned,he creates miracles and preaches the same as jesus did 2000 yrs ago,and he is not the anti-christ. a)would you follow him if he told you too..B)would you question him even if he told you not too,and C)if he told you the bible was a book of false words would you trust this man to burn your bible......harsh i know, but this was a subject a couple of friends and i were discussing, just like the fact that goverments would try to kill this man because society would most likley go into chaos, just wondering what you christians thought, and no im not out to prove or offend anyone,

when obviously, he was not... He was born and bred in the middle-east, so why should he be portrayed as anything other? And why is christianity not the dominant religion of His birthplace? To an un-educated person, learning about the different religions, i would be drawn to the countries where it apparently all happened.
Are westerners so arrogant as to believe we are the ONLY right ones?
What about Muslim, Islam, Buddhism even?
Please dont take my words too literal, you know the question that I am asking.....
Thanks in advance.

Intelligent design could be posited as bio-mechanical machines being pre-programmed to change rapidly in event of a near extinction event?

An affected species would thus give spontaneous birth, in mass, to a mutation and then simply die out leaving in it's place the new species, being a mutated adaptation, which not only explains an incomplete fossil record but would also account for there existing sufficent numbers for the mutation to be viable, replicatable, and sustainable.

Such as described would explain the incomplete fossil record because there was no long drawn out incremental changes over eons.

This would imply that there is a pre-existent program, for purpose of continuation of a bio-mechanical machine in response to the triggering of an event that would not permit it to continue unless and but for activation of an adaptive mutation program?

Evolution may exist but so does apparently another vehicle providing for more rapid adaptation?

Man what a day to remember, sometimes life makes us forget about who our real father is and how much he loves us.

To send Jesus his son to die so that we could come to him as sinners and be forgiven because of his grace, as adam was.

but i had a question in all of this, i believe god's mercy is vast, but i sometimes feel like the christian church leaves out his judgment, and alot of christians feel they can sin and mix it with their lives because of this message. I think we the church need to focus on seeking God, truly seeking him. Not preaching on how it's okay to get divorced and to find happiness again with someone else but to preach on staying married, to preach on the foundations of his word. i think we need a stronger message so we can avoid the overbearing temptaions of this world.

anyone agree?

Christianity basically claims that it is only way, that if you don't accept Jesus as your savior you are damned, and that all other spiritual paths are wrong. This is monoism and is very exclusive. Could this religion exist without having to be so exclusive?

This is the response Gunning4Jesus left to my post about my love for the youngest Ninja Turtle, Michelangelo.

"God would look upon such a marriage with a great weight in his chest and hope that the two of you find Christ before commiting to one another. I think it's OK if you dress up in the costumes but if you read the Bilble carefully it says that true love comes only between a man and a woman. If you are a girl and that guy in the picture is a male, you're alright, although I would advise you not to marry just because of one date to a movie. There is lots more you should learn about him, like which church he attends and what his beleifs are. I think you will have God's blessing and mercy if you get married later on when you rellay fall in love. I personaly think the costumes are sinful but that is just my opinion. Only God can judge. Just do not make a mockery of his love in the church and you'll be fine."

So... you're gonna skip out on the reception?

Christianity is a hodgepodge of Religious beliefs ever adopting to try and recruit as many people as possible.

Christmas adopted to convert Pagans
Easter adopted to convert Pagans
Halloween adopted to convert Pagans
Sunday worship adopted to convert Pagans
etc...

If you removed all the Pagan influences is anything left?

My grandmother is Methodist and she believes that only christians will go to heaven (I don't know if this is a Methodist belief or if it's just my grandma). I disagree, I'm Catholic and I believe that people of all religions could go to heaven. I also believe that only God knows who will go to heaven, so I don't think that someone can say only this group or only that group will go to heaven. So, what do you think on this subject and what religion are you??

... It does not mean that he had risen from the dead by a long shot. Does this piece of basic logic make you even consider there are alternative explanations that are less divine? Also, why would he only appear to a few select believers? Wouldn't it make more sense if Jesus wanted to prove he rose from the dead to appear before great masses of non-believers? Right in front of Ceasar himself and all his historians to document that he had indeed risen?

Let say that one day, I found this illogical thing that shouldn't exist, like....a cold fire. It's fire, and yet it's cold. Through normal studies, it couldn't be explained why the fire is cold, why is it still burning, or why it was there in the first place.

Of course if you said it was divine intervention, it might make sense a bit.

But before that ever happening, surely there'll be tons of theories on how the fire existed and why it was there before coming to a conclusion that it was divine intervention.

Let's look at another scenario. Let say one day Atheists came up with an undeniable proof that God doesn't exist, but would people really believe it? I mean look at evolution, you know what I mean.

In the end, it's all about faith, isn't it?

I saw the movie about Luther , and there is a scene there that was not clear for me. Before the Luther´s big trial with the prince, he was prayig in his room as his spiritual father was watching him. Luther was “fighting” with something. What was it? A bad spirit? His own doubts? His despair and fears? Thanx a lot for your help.

Why do Christians hate the Catholic religion? My friend is Christian and she tells me that the Catholic religion is wrong, and I honestly don't understand why. I don't think any religion is wrong, even if they do believe different things.
