I've worked a lot with Catholics and ex Catholics on their sex lives. The problem stems from guilt. If Protestants have GCSEs in guilt the Catholic church prepares it's flock for a Degree. It also seems to spread into everything. My wife - who is an ex Catholic seems to think that everything in the world is her fault.
My question is "is there any value in guilt?" The answer = NO!. Does it stop people doing something wrong - no - just gives them headaches after.
You see, girls were taught that deep kissing was a mortal sin. Well if you have commited a mortal sin, there is no point in not doing all the rest.

If your sex life is messed up it is because you are not honoring the gift of your sexuality as God intended.
Thinkl about it.
If you wait to have sex until you are married- and so does your spouse...and you only have sex with each other....how can anything be messed up??
It's when you deviate from that plan that things get messed up!

Catholics probably have the same percentage (or a little lower) of messed up sex lives as Non-Catholics.
I have not seen any studies.
With love in Christ.

Those who choose not to follow proper sexual morality as taught by the Church will have, as you put it, "messed up sex lives".
