Yes, they can. If the man married a believer of the holy books (Abraham/Jesus).
Though the AlQuran does not forbid it, most of Islamic authorities (individuals) in many Islamic countries, nowadays would refuse to approve mixed marriage like this. It is ashame.
And Islamic authorities or the cult leaders interprete AlQuranic verses according to their own selves agendas/importance, which today you witness terrorisms, endless fights among Muslims & others and all these irresponsible acts of evil people (who assume they are representatives of God and speak or do on behalf of Allah) at the expense on Islamic religion as well as the rational followers.

p/s The late Arafat's wife was a Christian. Arafat was Palestinians leader.
He had been invited to the mass every year.

Islam has made marriage to Jewish or Christian women lawful for Muslim men, for they are Ahl al-Kitab, that is, People of the Book, or people whose tradition is based upon a divinely revealed Scripture. Although they have distorted and altered it, they do possess a religion of divine origin, and hence Islam has made some exceptions in dealing with them.

if a muslim guy loves or wants to marry a non muslim then he can do so only by converting the girl to muslim. however a muslim girl cannot marry a non muslim becoz she has to live and perform the duties and costom of her inlaws. however if the groom wants to b converted as muslim and stay seperately then the muslim girl can marry the non muslim. however the converter and the connvert has to pray 5 times a day and b obedient to the religion.

it depends on the sect as there are some very hard line muslims that cannot marry other then a muslim
