I was brought up in a half catholic (my mum) and half atheist (my dad) family. Now an adult I am purely atheist and since seeing american christians on television and seeing what a 'normal christian' is in america, it has really upset me that it is so cult like. can someone please respond to me and tell me why christians feel it ncessary to target weak people? I don't mean to cause an offence to anyone but I have actually been very offended by the way christianity is practiced.

let me tell you why. the catholic church is the only religious organisation that is openly against the death penalty. catholic church helps millions of poor kids in poor countries with education, homes and food which has improved the lives of these kids and given them a future.
(to those who attack the catholics as converting these kids, i say nothing wrong with embracing a humane ideology as christianity which teaches people to go forward and improve their lives)

catholics embrace evolution and pluralism

now i know that you are going to hit me with answers about abusive priests and the catholic church's ugly history. but to those people i say name me a religion that is free of abuse and a violant past?

the catholic church i believe is a humane organisation and i respect it.

i am a pakistani ex muslim turned atheist who is concerned only about human rights and not divine rights

About 10yrs ago I was pregnant with my first born child, I had a dream that just stuck in my head for years and not till recently did I put the connection together.
I dreamnt that I was in a school hall way holding the hand of a little girl around 8yrs old and holding the hand of a little boy who could have been around 4 or 5 and I was trying to get a older boy child to come out of his classroom..
Today I am divorced my daughter lives with her father my x husband.. and I have been in a different relationship for 6 1/2 years now.. we have one son together and he has a older son that lives with us.. The ages of the children today match the ages of the children in the dream.
Did God intend for me to take this path.. Did he tell me when I was pregnant in the dream that he wanted me to do more?
My stepson has a terrible mother who just left him wherever with whomever and he needed a real mother, which I have filled that role. Is this what God wanted? To me I say yes..

So where did hell come from if the devil created it, why would he want to tortue all the 'bad' souls that go there? wouldnt it be better for him to build an army to try and destroy God for good?
Or did God create it to torment the devil and all of the bad souls???

If not, why did so many main stream churches and people who called themselves Christians support slavery during the civil war? Were they wrong in their convictions?

If so many were wrong then, could so many be wrong today in their beliefs about homosexuality?

When there was no life, no planets, no anything, what was there? A black empty space? What was there before the black empty space? Can you really contemplate the true meaning of "nothing"? A "big bang" theory? What is that? What existed before this bang and how did that come into existence?

Have you spent time in prayer and study of the scriptures as it relates to your beliefs? Or are you blindly following the dogma taught by your specific religion...maybe what you have been taught to believe since childhood? Or are you blindly following your pastor? I challenge you to open your heart and mind and pray to God for his leadership and conviction...

far from God. Sometimes I feel wrapped up safe in my belief and other times I question it non stop. One day i'm a full fledged muslim...the next I'm wondering if I'm a muslim at all. Now and again I feel totally at peace with my choice and strive to learn all I can to confirm its importance to me....other days I feel like a rebel and strive all I can to just learn what negative things there are in it and why it bothers me.

My question is for those that follow religion...whatever it is. Does your faith wax and wane? Does it seem star bright one day and barely a glowing ember the next? Do you have to work to stay within your beliefs or does it just come naturally without thought. And the last question...do you think that through all this struggle within yourself that God is waiting patiently for you to come to a conclusion or left you to your own struggles so he can concentrate on those stronger in faith?

Will you welcome me, as Christ did, into your home for dinner, to fellowship with you?

Will you welcome me into your life to be your friend and exhange ideas?

I am a Christian...but, I am gay...am I still welcome?

Luke 16:18 says that everyone who divorces his wife and marries another, commits adultery.

1 Corinthians, 6:9 says ..."the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingodm of God....neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers nor effeminate, nor homosexuals"

Everyone quotes the Corinthians verse to me as proof that I cannot be gay and Christian...I am told that unless I turn from homosexuality, that I will go to hell, by not inheriting the kingdom of God.

With that same logic and verses then...those that are married two a second spouse and who refuse to go back to the first one is commiting adultery, and thereby unwilling to change their sinful lives... so are going to hell?

If so, why don't churches preach harder about the sinof divorce? Is it because they are afraid of alienating a portion of the monetary contributors considering the divorce rate is well past 50%

The fact that an opinion has been widely held is no evidence whatever that it is not utterly absurd; indeed in view of the silliness of the majority of mankind, a widespread belief is more likely to be foolish than sensible.
