I find it illogical to believe that the same God who empowered man with reason, common sense, intelligence and a questioning nature, would then expect him not to use them.

If all scientists, theologists, poets and intellectuals were condemmed to hell, then conversations in Heaven would be boring indeed.

Because most of the world's populus believes in some form of higher being, people are more likely to NOT admit they have doubts about God/higher power...because they may receive some form of social distancing or discrimination because of it (in any form).

I wish that some people would just admit to having doubts about the description of God in the Bible. I find Jehovah to be unworthy of worship for many reasons. To me he also seems no more believable that Zeus or Odin. If people want to beleive that there must be a supernatural creator who designed and created the universe, starting with the Big Bang, then I won't quibble with them. It's the people who won't admit doubts that maybe their understanding of the creator is flawed are the ones who have real problems.

OH, now this amuses me.
First of all, everyone doubts at times, it is part of being human. There is nothing wrong with that. From great questions comes even greater faith.
By the same token, why are atheists so scared to admit that at times they wonder if they could be wrong, and maybe there is a God....

OK, gang, drinks on me! I'd rather be found believing in Him with the occasional question, than asserting that He doesn't exist with the occasional stab of "what if"...

I have no doubts at all that God exists. Read what follows and you will understand why.

I believe in God because of the hard evidence he exists: in the order, beauty and irreducible complexity of nature and the universe, man's superior intelligence and moral conscience. Is it possible for this irreducible complexity to have happened by chance? Not a chance!

But the most incontrovertible proof of his existence is no other than Jesus Christ, the Image and Word of God and the REVEALER of God our Father. He was sent by his Father not only to save and reconcile mankind. He was also sent so that men may come to know God. What human can …

Silence a typhoon?
Walk on water?
Multiply a few loaves of bread and fish in order to feed a multitude of 5,000?
Bring back dead people to life?
Give sight to people born blind?
Change water into wine?
Rise from the dead?

These miracles prove beyond any reasonable doubt God exists. They demonstrate Christ's power over life and death and the forces of nature. Only a God can have such powers.

And if these miracles were just made up, Christianity would not have grown by leaps and bounds in the first century. His disciples would not have risked their lives for a bunch of lies. Many people witnessed these miracles. The resurrection of Jesus cannot be silenced because more than 500 people saw his resurrected body. (1 Corinthians 15,6)

Peace and every blessing!

In the case of Christians, it's because in Christanity, if you don't believe in God, then you go to hell when you die, or at least, you don't get to go to Heaven, which is just as bad. Even in Christian sects that emphasis the "love one another" rather than the "do this and you'll go to hell!" bit still manage to instill this fear into people by saying: "Accept Jesus, and you'll have eternal life."

Naturally, it makes people afraid to admit it. What if you died RIGHT THEN? You wouldn't have eternal life! You'd go to hell! You'd be /truly dead/. Refusing to admit it is a form of self-protection, even though most also believe that God can indeed know your true thoughts.

But hey, at least if you don't speak it out loud... it seems less real.

Never about the existance of God. To me there is no way to not believe in God. I am a Christian and for me, I have had trouble with "how the story is told". I have pretty much resolved this problem in this way, Everything has happened in God's way and in God's time.

I have always believed that God and Jesus existed. No I didnt come from a religious family either. Went to church some on a church bus but I was around 6 or 7 when I did and dont remember much about it.

People don't like to think of themselves as orphans in the universe. They don't want to think that their existance may be meaningless. People want someone they can call out to in time of trouble, a Big Daddy in the Sky who will make it all better. As you mature and become more experienced, you can't help but question religious beliefs. But if you get to the point where you realize we invented god, you may panic and resort to - Well I have faith. I just won't think about it. But be careful of magic thinking. don't try to use it everywhere. For example, if you write out a check "having faith" that you have enough money to cover it, reality may be that you bounce that check.

I think some people are not really 100% sure that there might be no god, I mean religion itself doesn't really help because everyone contradicts each other when they are supposed to believe in the same thing and there are way too many "religions".

Him that doubteth is like a wave upon the sea, being tossed to and fro. That's a terrible way to live. Your beliefs will change just because of what circumstances you may be in. That's sad. The Gospel of Jesus Christ provides an anchor in the increasing turbulent waters of this day and age. Unlike the philosophies of men the Gospel never changes. It's like the north star in the sky that remains in the same place every night while all the others stars move. The north star remains steadfast and immovable, just like the eternal truth in Christ's Gospel.

Right here and now I want to give you my testimony that I KNOW that there is a God. I know that just as I know that the sun is going to rise today. I know that just as surely as I know that I exist. You can know for yourself. By the power of the Holy Ghost you may know the truth of all things. I promise you that if you have true sincerity in seeking for the truth that you will find it. Knock and it shall be opened unto you. Seek and ye shall find. But ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave tossed to and fro upon the sea. For wither he go, no man knows. God bless you.
