far from God. Sometimes I feel wrapped up safe in my belief and other times I question it non stop. One day i'm a full fledged muslim...the next I'm wondering if I'm a muslim at all. Now and again I feel totally at peace with my choice and strive to learn all I can to confirm its importance to me....other days I feel like a rebel and strive all I can to just learn what negative things there are in it and why it bothers me.

My question is for those that follow religion...whatever it is. Does your faith wax and wane? Does it seem star bright one day and barely a glowing ember the next? Do you have to work to stay within your beliefs or does it just come naturally without thought. And the last question...do you think that through all this struggle within yourself that God is waiting patiently for you to come to a conclusion or left you to your own struggles so he can concentrate on those stronger in faith?

Hi Coolred, yes I can identify with your comments, I believe that all of us go thru these Dry periods from time to time and the biggest reason for this is usually that we are not praying as much as we should, prayer is our constant lifeline to God and when we neglect it then we can really feel that we are in the desert spiritually.
This really applies to all of us who beleive in God,Muslim,Catholic or Protestant whatever, but you know it is never God who changes it is always ourselves, He is alway`s faithful while we are not, and besides life has a way of discouraging us at times and when this happens we tend to question and doubt and wonder if it is all worth it, so be at peace and do not worry or be discouraged we all go thru this, get back to regular prayer and trust in the God Who loves you so much.
Peace be to you.

Yes

This is the natural way of things.

Your state of emotions change, and God tests you.

This even has a name, its called Qabd and Bast.

When youre in the state of Qabd, you will be showered by thoughts from the devil that are aimed at you faith. It is a painful and often discouraging phase if you dont know what is going on. i.e. You are being tested.

Then, just like sunshine after the rain, you come to Bast, which is when youre left alone without too much testing. And youd feel more calmer.

These are two necessary phases. They help you to recognize who you truly are, despite the questions that pop up in your head.

Realize that we all go through this. And life is about, sunshines after rains, and rains after sunshines.

Be thankful at each phase. And be firm, non changing in your attitudes no matter what goes on in your head.

wow!! i think that you're just putting yourself in a dilema by your own self.
do i understand that you are a muslim?
ok, you are fully contradicting yourself throughout your text. the moment you start to question your religion (regardless of what it is) then there's a gap that you need to fill in by referring to the holy books or to those who are worthy of being asked like sheikhs or priests.
you know something? the moment that you feel that life is good and nothing's troubling you, then you must reconsider your relation with Allah and see where you are from him!
because Allah tests those whom he loves by making them live through troubles and miseries, a test of patiency and the ability to survive and move on in life, thanking him throughout, that adds a lot of weight to your scale on judgement day.
if you are a muslim , you surely have come across that Allah comes down to people during the last third of the night to see who is mentioning him in his prayers or asking for his forgiveness... and yes he is patient for one of his 100 names is "Assaboor" "The Patient"
and believe me, anything in life needs working to get whereever or whatever we need. such is the case with your beliefs.

My faith doesn't go up and down it stays steady in God. He said in His word that He would never leave me nor forssake me. When we struggle it is on our own doing. When we find it hard to serve Him it is us who make it htat way.

I think God is trying to tell you something. I am saved but my religion is Baptist. I have never doubted my beliefs. Just listen to God and he will lead you right.

No. I never doubt that Jesus is the only way to God and I never doubt that the bible is God's word.

I pray that God lead you to His son, who is the truth, the life and the way.

I am a Christian, but have had similar experiences. I think they are healthy and part of the natural process of spiritual maturation.

Yes.....we all have quiet periods with our faith.

But God never moves......we do.

He remains the same.....we change.

Hang in there and keep the faith.

If it was constant, it wouldn't be called faith.
