Is it possible to be of a particular religion and not believe in God? Can't you believe in the customs and practices without praying?

No. The definitions of both are exclusive of the other.
If you did the customs, you would only be practicing a culture, not a religion. Religion requires belief.

an atheist doesn't believe in a god or deity so the answer is no
since the primary tenet of the religions you mentioned is that you believe in god and surrender to him, how can you practice the religion? you may be a part of a religion, but until you choose to follow their practices and beliefs you are just faking.
if you are looking for spiritual growth, but don't believe in a god, check out buddhism. a practice that focuses on the individuals growth, no real deity worship

You can be ethinically a jew or from a family tradition of catholicism but if you don't believe, you are no longer a jew or a catholic. Frankly, without the belief, what is the purpose of the ritual?

Since all of the customs and practices of both religions kind of revolve around God, I'd have to answer no on that one.

No. Impossible. You could be an atheist, and practice the customs. But you wouldn't believe in them.

of course it is, how? there are indeed many who claim to be of these particular faiths and others as well who while being born into the faith do not practice it anymore and are lapsed,so these are Jewish and or Catholic in name only, which may be used to their own convenience at times.

No, speaking as a Catholic I can tell you emphatically that you must adhere to Catholic teachings....which all flow from the fact that a loving and all-powerful trinitarian God exists.

Yes you can and God calls that traditions of man and makes the power of his word void, meaning it does them no good! At the end Jesus will say get away I never knew you, you must receive his Holy spirit not just say you believe. here is how!
